Department Profile: Corporate Services

Corporate Services provides a robust portfolio of global services utilized daily across the Firm to enable productivity, efficiency, safety, optimized business models and an enhanced employee experience in the workplace. We have over 5,000 staff managing a multi-billion dollar scope of services including Real Estate and Location Strategy; Real Estate Portfolio and Transaction Management; Property Management; Corporate Travel; Corporate Security & Investigations; Corporate Information Management; and Regional Client Services; and Office of the COO.


  • The BIA Global Head partners with BUs to analyze, evaluate, and understand business requirements for third-party research, to identify data sources and vendor products needed to execute business, and to influence and provide advice on best-fit solutions.

  • Provide leadership and management oversight of BIA Global, including employees in NY, London, Tokyo and vendors in Asia.

  • Lead BIA management team with a focus on driving the strategy and direction of the function.

  • Form part of the Corporate Information Management team with a focus on driving innovation, cost efficiency and being a role model to others in the CIM organization.

  • Manage the daily operations of BIA Global Research services.

  • Assume accountability for their performance and associated service/project deliverables. These services include:

  • Research;

  • Presentations in EMEA (pitch books and creative presentations);

  • Product Management: Maintain in-depth knowledge of vendor strategy, vendor account plans and product roadmaps;

  • Analytics;

  • Virtual Deal Rooms;

  • Translations;

  • Specific operating officer functions: management reporting / metrics (KPI), financial management, product cost management, risk management , talent development;

  • Participate in/lead global initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain a strategic leadership position and advisory relationships with all seniority levels in BUs (COO and above) to understand key business drivers and create a steering committee of technology and client leadership to drive senior sponsorship the business into a more cost effective and mobile organization.

  • Create a culture of innovation, collaboration through industry partnerships, vendor relationships and global industry forums to allow for cross BU and financial industry standard building. This should include a strong collaboration between BIA and Creative Services and Reprographics.

  • Develop and execute a 3-5 year technology strategy which will allow for:

  • Streamlined Research Process: request, approval, delivery, feedback, knowledge management improving efficiency, providing mobile access, productivity tracking, dashboard management.

  • Knowledge Management: reporting, automated analytics mobile and easily accessible including self-service modeling tools and mobile chat.

  • PitchBook Workflow: Enhancing, in partnerships with Creative Services, the pitch book workflow embedding research in automated fashion and automating the billing process to allow for the Firm to recoup costs related to client work.

  • Digital Pitch Support: Using technologies and onsite research analyst create a proactive and robust advisory services and leveraging research into the pitch book workflow including searchable asset storage on Cloud.

  • Product Management Made Easy: Automate the product inventory and usage process and allow for easy to use dashboard of product usage.

  • Automated training modules that can be accessed by junior banking community for quick reference guide.

  • Develop and execute a new staffing model that creates a robust onsite advisory service focused on an affinity for current events, critical issues, relevant news and technologies that allow for access via the cloud and mobile access of research and pitch books and eliminates time consuming tasks from the on-site researchers and leverages our offshore centers more effectively. This service should allow for proactive research, company profiles, company monitoring and market trends.

  • Hire the appropriate talent to build out the team and leverage offshore providers to do more value added work.

  • Develop a robust mentoring and training program leveraging the research analysts and the banking and wealth management analysts.

Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting for the Head of Global Security to join our Enterprise Services organization. The Head of Global Security is the most senior security role in the organization and performs a key leadership and strategic role within the firm. This role has global accountability for developing, implementing and directing a firm-wide risk based security and life safety program including ownership of all associated technological infrastructure, systems and applications. The Head of Global Security is responsible for strategic planning, policy development and implementation and the execution of a variety of programs including but not limited to: the collection and dissemination of intelligence, conducting risk assessments, global security and life safety operations and initiatives, travel security, investigations and crisis management activities with 24-hour global coverage. The Head of Global Security works collaboratively with Partners and Senior Executives throughout the firm to proactively identify and assess risk, implement new programs, policies and strategies to effectively mitigate risk, limit exposure and maintain regulatory and internal compliance. The incumbent directs both domestic and international staff, is responsible for development of capital and operating budgets and is accountable for the business plan of the global security department and its alignment with the firms overall objectives and strategy. The Head of Global Security will also serve in a regulatory capacity as the Bank Security Officer for the firms Trust Companies as required by the Controller of the Currency pursuant to section 3 of the Bank Protection Act of 1968 (12 U.S.C. 1882). Some of your key responsibilities include: Leadership * Provides exemplary leadership for the global security department and BBH employees throughout the firm. * Acts as a key advisor, subject matter expert to the Partnership and all stakeholders as it relates to risk mitigation strategies, security/safety issues and controls. * Develops an effective consensus position in a diverse organization comprised of multiple lines of business within a heavily regulated industry across a several geographical boundaries. * In keeping with the highest standards of the firm, represents the Partnership externally as a recognized security industry leader. Risk Management * Leads a team charged with continually identifying and conducting vulnerability and risk assessments, identifying and implementing controls to mitigate risks, monitoring performance of controls and taking corrective measures. * Manages the conduct of site surveys, research and analysis of security and business operations to identify best practices, security requirements and effective solutions. Strategic Planning and Management * Global Accountability to develop long-term strategies to assess, prevent, protect, mitigate risks, identify threats and vulnerabilities to safeguard employees, clients and assets, including data and intellectual property. * Executes and develops a forward thinking proactive and scalable risk mitigation strategy to better anticipate, evaluate and appropriately responds to developments in the local and international environment that could potentially impact business concerns. * Acts as a key strategic business partner to all lines of business and stakeholders; create an effective interaction model with each of these key businesses on matters of security, life safety and the management of risk. * Responsible for planning, developing and executing the consistent delivery of security products and services, the continuity of security and intelligence operations and performing crisis management activities. Policy and Program Development and Implementation * Define the strategy, model and approach for the security business globally by establishing the overall direction for policy development, prevention, planning, reporting, escalation process and response. * Create, maintain and implement a significant number of Global security policies and programs including but not limited to: Physical Security, Travel Risk Management, Access Control and Identity Management, Workplace Violence, Crisis Management, Security Awareness Training, Bank Security Program and Procedures, Intelligence Collection and Analysis, Risk Assessments & Vulnerability Testing, and Insider Threat. Operational Planning and Management * Global oversight and accountability for all related security and safety operations to include all regions/markets where BBH operates in, has employees traveling to or a business interest in. * Through subordinate members of the security management team, oversee and direct the development, planning and coordination of the on-site security managers, support staff, and contract security guard services as well as outlining the tactical and strategic planning for 24x7 security operations, coordinating and implementing all site and travel safety & security programs, operations, and activities to ensure protection of all employees, physical and information assets, while ensuring optimal use of personnel and equipment. * Owns and manages complex global relationships with third party vendors for a variety of security related and life safety services. Regulatory and Internal Compliance * Works with the Firm's Data Privacy team to develop policies and programs for global compliance with government rules, regulations, laws, and treaties related to data privacy or various security systems and functions i.e. CCTV, Access Control Systems and Employee Data. * Collaboration with internal business partners to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and examination standards in a number of areas including but not limited to: physical security, cyber security and risk assessments. * Global accountability for retaining, reviewing and producing audited material to ensure compliance. * Responsible for fulfilling the position of Bank Security Officer for the firms Trust Companies meeting the requirements in the Bank Protection Act of 1968. Financial Management * Responsible for the formulation, presentation and execution of operating budgets and capital expenditures for global security/safety operations, initiatives, equipment and technology. * Responsible for developing and identifying global performance metrics. Human Resources Planning and Management * Continually evaluate and determine appropriate global security delivery model (vendor vs. proprietary) and subsequent staffing requirements for overall program delivery; develop, coach and mentor team members. * Attract, develop, and engage department staff with a variety of subject matter expertise; set timely and challenging performance standards, goals, and development plans. * Communicate and ensure that the security management team and staff are properly aligned with the strategy, goals, and objectives and have the necessary information and tools to be successful. External Relationships * Develops and maintain effective relationships with high-level law enforcement, government, intelligence, auxiliary security agencies, regulatory authorities, industry professional associations and private sector counterparts worldwide. * Interacts with clients through relationship managers when security related matters are raised. Maintain relationships with peer institution, heads-of-security. Investigations * As necessary, participates in security-related investigations in collaboration with other stakeholders. Confers with government representatives and law enforcement when appropriate and necessary. Technology * Overall global accountability for state-of-the-art risk and security management technology solutions implemented to secure the firms assets and people. * Manages both new and legacy security technology systems in keeping with industry and internal IT standards; global security maintains independent responsibility for the administration and oversight of equipment and infrastructure deployed at every BBH location globally; including but not limited to of: hardware, software, mobile device applications and the Security Operations & Intelligence Center. * Oversees design and execution of global capital projects through subordinate global security management staff and third party vendor security systems integrators. Qualifications: * BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience. * 15+ years of experience in Security Management and/or Law Enforcement/intelligence/government service with a focus on risk management, protection, investigations and safety. * 8+ years leading teams and developing staff. * Significant security management experience in the financial services industry preferred. * Has demonstrated executive level security risk management experience and the financial services industry and the international security arena; including experience in risk identification, assessment, mitigation and management, consequence management and policy & procedure development. * Knowledge and understanding relevant regulatory bodies and applicable regulations. * Knowledge of financial services products and services, controls. * Strong leadership, judgment, organizational and communication skills, effective at establishing and obtaining commitment to business goals, while constructively motivating people and implementing risk management strategies. * Strong working knowledge of security principals, emergency preparedness, crisis and risk management. * Plans and executes security strategies in alignment with the firm's goals/projections. * Possess outstanding written/verbal/presentation skills to articulate security policies, procedures and plans to the Partnership, senior level executives and all levels of employees. * Thrives on initiating, building and cultivating strong relationships inside and outside; highly collaborative; navigates and activates alignment across organizational silos. * Able to effectively and quickly build relationships and establish trust, respect, competence and confidence. * Exemplary and unquestionable personal integrity and moral compass. * Excellent analytical skills, with significant attention to detail. * Strong strategic and political awareness. * Knowledge of relevant criminal laws. * Experience as a liaison with international, federal, state and local government and law enforcement/information sources. * Ability to brief senior management and provide concise and professional advice. * Any of the following certifications is a desirable benefit: Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), or Certified Emergency Manager (CEM). * Ability to travel 25% or as needed, including international travel.
