Business Info Analyst Sr:

Responsible for analyzing, reporting and developing recommendations on data related to complex and varied business metrics. Typically provides technical assistance to lower level staff.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Creates and maintains databases to track business performance.

  • Analyzes data and summarizes performance using summary statistical procedures.

  • Develops and analyzes business performance reports (e.g. for claims data, provider data, utilization data) and provides notations of performance deviations and anomalies.

  • Creates and publishes periodic reports, as well as any necessary ad hoc reports.

  • May require taking business issue and devising best way to develop appropriate diagnostic and/or tracking data that will translate business requirements into usable decision support tools.

  • May make recommendations based upon data analysis.

Business Info Consultant:

Responsible for serving as an expert in data analysis, reporting and formulating recommendations and providing guidance to business.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
1.Creates and maintains databases to track business performance.
2.Analyzes data and summarizes performance using summary statistical procedures.
3.Develops and analyzes business performance reports (e.g. for membership, claims data, provider data, utilization data) and provides notations of performance deviations and anomalies.
4.Creates and publishes periodic reports, as well as any necessary ad hoc reports.
5.May require taking business issue and devising best way to develop appropriate diagnostic and/or tracking data that will translate business requirements into usable decision support tools.
6.May make recommendations based upon data analysis.
7.Provides analytic consultation to other business areas, leadership or external customers.
8.Data analysis and reporting encompasses a much higher level of complexity.
9.Creates provider-level reporting identifying cost and quality improvement opportunities; ensures the data 'tells a story' and highlights actionable next steps.

Business Info Analyst Sr

  • Requires a BS/BA degree in related field.

  • 3-5 years data analysis or related experience.

  • Any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • This job is focused on complex and varied metrics, making recommendations and providing assistance to staff as compared to the Bus Info Analyst II job.

Business Info Consultant

  • Requires a BS/BA degree in related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience.

  • Any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • This job is more focused on higher level technical expertise, mentoring staff in lower job levels, more customer facing, higher level of collaboration, work is higher volume and/or higher risk, and modeling as compared to the Bus Info Analyst Sr job.

Qualifications for all levels:

  • HMO knowledge is preferable.

  • Experience with relational databases and knowledge of query tools and statistical software is required.

  • SAS and/or SQL are preferred.

  • Excel is required.

  • Ability to manipulate large sets of data.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, presentation, and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to do data visualization.

  • Experience with DOFR (Division of Financial Responsibility) analysis.

Business Info Developer / Developer Sr. / Developer Consultant Work location: California - Walnut Creek or Woodland Hills This healthcare data role is responsible for creating and executing queries and reports for Anthem's California Commercial business. The position will work closely with the local business and network operations teams to develop data-based reports and insights on healthcare cost, utilization and population metrics. The position will coordinate report development and data visualization projects and will plan and conduct technical end user training on reports and/or dashboards. The primary focus of this position is query writing. Primary duties include: * Design, write and execute complex queries to extract healthcare claims and encounter data from data warehouses. * Construct cost and utilization reports, such as inpatient metrics and care referral patterns. * Automate updates for recurring views. * Evaluate data sources and determine the most appropriate data source for use in specific projects. * Conduct cross-validation, data cleansing, and quality checks for extracted data. * Establish and maintain excellent knowledge of data definitions and data integrity issues specific to California. * Present summarized data interpretations and caveats to business and technical end-users. * Design and develop dashboards and data visualization views. * Provider programming support for ad hoc projects. Requires a BA/BS degree; 2-5 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background. Business Info Developer - 2 years of experience Business Info Developer Sr. - 2-3 years of experience Business Info Consultant - 4-5 years of experience * PC, spreadsheet and database skills, as well as experience in standard Business Information tools and programming/ query languages is also required. * Experience developing and modifying complex SQL queries. * Experience working with multiple data sources. * Experience working with large data sets. * Expert level proficiency with MS excel. * Experience building views in data visualization tools. * Ability to communicate effectively with multiple levels in the organization and summarize technical terms to business support areas. * Ability to reach out proactively and independently to obtain support for technical questions. * SAS and/or web based programming experience is a plus. * Knowledge of healthcare terminology and common cost, utilization and quality measures is preferred. * Previous medical informatics work experience preferred.
