Job Summary and Key Responsibilities

The Business Development VP drives the implementation of key partnership initiatives that make transformational impact to Citi's consumer banking businesses. The ideal candidate will be able to establish strong working relationships across Citi and with the Global Networks partners and manage multiple priorities on a day-to-day basis as it relates to the networks partnerships. Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform research and analysis to identify and validate new transformational partnership opportunities for Global Consumer Bank across Data and Analytics, Products and Services and Marketing and Advertising verticals.

  • Develop business cases for the key growth initiatives that support the strategic priorities of Global Consumer Bank.

  • Provide overall project management support for the prioritized initiatives - including developing timelines, key milestones, project KPIs and communication to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Partner with Citi business and partner resources to drive the prioritized initiatives forward

  • Develop a deep understanding of partner's asset and solutions that are being implemented and how they add value to Citi

  • Conduct research on market insights, business opportunities, industry trends, and competitor intelligence


  • We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced business development professional to be part of Citi's Global Consumer Bank
  • Global Business Development/Global Networks Team. The ideal candidate will have 6 - 10 years of financial services experience, preferably with prior experience in Business Development, Investment Banking or Consulting and a background in the payments industry, consumer credit, digital commerce and Fin Tech
  • BA/BS required, MBA preferred


  • Have excellent knowledge and research skills about the FinTech, Payments, Credit Card and consumer banking industries. Ability to execute market practices, be up-to-date on recent developments, conduct competitive analysis and positioning

  • Deep knowledge of financial services products and passion for technology and financial services trends and growth areas.

  • Proven ability to understand client needs and be able to deliver banking solutions in close cooperation with In-Line Business teams

  • Strategic and project management capabilities coupled with strong analytic and financial acumen

  • Demonstrated ability to gain consensus and alignment within a matrix environment

  • Continuously challenging the status quo

  • Conducts rigorous analysis and is able to synthesize complex and multiple source data into fact based and nuanced solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize information, prioritize business goals and drive results with a high sense of urgency

  • Strong presentation skills and ability to develop client presentations and narratives for client meetings and engagements.

  • Effective team player and ability to collaborate across a highly matrixed, cross-functional organization that is global.

  • Self-motivated/highly adaptive and able to work well in high stress environments

  • Strong analytical, financial and problem management skills

  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills

  • High ethical standards and mature risk tolerance who structures deals balancing risk and reward


  • BS/BA Degree or MBA

We have big goals and are looking for talented people to join us. The Opportunity: GIPHY is looking for a VP of Business Development. In this role, you will be responsible for the strategy and execution of GIPHY's BD team. You will focus on the assessment, negotiation and partner management directly tied to the monetization and distribution of our content. You and your team will monetize, maintain and deepen existing partnerships while also sourcing new strategic partnerships. You will recommend new deals to pursue and will work cross-functionally within GIPHY to help us grow audience, revenue, and content. The ideal candidate will have a pulse on the current market trends with a lens and vision for future opportunities. What You'll Do: * Lead GIPHY's Business Development team from a strategic perspective while also being hands on * Build key strategic and monetary partnerships with platform partners in the interactive space * Maintain strong relationships with existing GIPHY distribution and content partners and develop incremental cooperative revenue opportunities * Build key strategic and monetary partnerships with select content partners in the interactive space * Manage the continued growth of GIPHY's developer network and support the integration of the company's technology across creative and messaging apps in the web and mobile ecosystems * Lead all deal process management: strategy/planning, prospecting, negotiation and implementation * Effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and work to ensure strong alignment with product, finance, content, and legal * Effectively communicate and report with stakeholders and senior-level executives, as well as operational teams Who You Are: * BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience. * 10+ years of work experience in business development or a relevant field * Negotiating experience, as well as deftness translating that to written agreements.
