As a Business Development Underwriter at ICW Group you are the main point of contact for agents and brokers. Overseeing both underwriting and marketing initiatives ensures you grow to become your agents' business partner. You decide how to go about fostering relationships and building your book of business.

You will have the opportunity to establish collaborative relationships, really understand the external marketplace and evaluate routine business for risk acceptability. You will also be responsible for achieving the Company's marketing and producer management objectives within the assigned group of producers through the generation and maintenance of a profitable book of business. Evaluates routine business for risk acceptability; matching price to exposure, loss frequency and severity for profitability, and rating plans/modifications for renewal retention.

Drives and manages a profitable and growing book of business

  • Sells, services and maintains a producer force that can sell and control a profitable and growing book of business; Monitors production and quality of assigned producers

  • Drive profitable sale of the Company's products including increasing sales of existing products, and the introduction and selling of new products as they are developed.

  • Develops the assigned producer group to improve the quality and quantity of the business we obtain from assigned producers. Serves as the primary Company contact and representative with existing and prospective producers.

Prospects and develops new business

  • Prospects and prequalifies new producers to determine working relationship

  • Appoints new quality producers; sets and monitors production expectations with each Agency.

  • Attains a thorough knowledge of the geographic territory assigned with regard to production sources, competitor activity, and economic and demographic idiosyncrasies.

  • Produces marketing research to help identify opportunities for management, product enhancements, new distribution channels and new geographic markets with growth potential.

Utilizes underwriting authority to effectively price Company's products

  • Accepts or rejects simple to slightly complex risks, evaluating all risk characteristics (operations, financials, management, employees, prior experience, etc.) as compared to the average in its class and price for profit within Company Underwriting guidelines.

  • Keep alert to industry changes, including WCIRB/NCCI rulings, forms and coverage changes.

Delivers superior customer service through collaborative relationships

  • Provides productions support through producer visitations and by participating in underwriting and production presentations.

  • Provides personal assistance to agents and insureds through regular visits to outside locations such as producer's offices. Be available to customers through use of Company technology.

  • Effectively communicates decisions and resolve agent/customer concerns promptly.

  • Presents Agency Management solutions to agency principals and ICW management team.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability to service the Company's clients and build and maintain relationships with production sources. Ability to apply fundamental Underwriting concepts, practices, procedures in area of specialization. Ability to read and interpret documents such as submissions, loss control reports, and standard policy form/endorsements. Current driver's license required.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: The Director of Business Intelligence will oversee generation of business insights to identify growth opportunities and maximize operational efficiency for business teams in US West Coast and Asia regions. They must be able to effectively coordinate large scale projects both ensuring quality and meeting critical timelines. S/he will lead the Business Intelligence squads in Ventura and Sydney to empower business teams with fact-based data analysis and dashboards to support strategic growth plans. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: * Develop and lead a team of highly skilled data and BI analysts. Leverage prior experience in BI & Analytics techniques to develop the BI team's skillsets. * Prioritize team's efforts to align with strategic business priorities by highly disciplined valuation process to drive towards clear and important business objectives. * Lead the team in design and execution of BI deliverables. * Build strong cross functional relationships with various business stakeholders & technology teams. * Ensure key success metrics are identified and tracked to promote the team's successes * Design and coordinate comprehensive analyses that promote timely actionable insights, empower decision making around customer experience for strategic growth and product development initiatives with insights and recommended course corrections. * Review historical performance, identify opportunities, deliver insights, and assess the impact of strategic initiatives that improve business profitability and eventually shareholder value. * Build analytical frameworks, analyzing complex data, and visualizing key business insights across different functions and leadership levels. * Lean on strong leadership and communication to drive cross-functional efforts in fast paced and complex organizations. * Provide thought-leadership with all matters related to BI & Analytics as a business partner. * Engage with external partners and attend events to leverage new data sources and tools and stay in touch with the evolution of tools for Big Data, Business Intelligence, and Real time analytics. * Provide subject matter expertise to support advanced analytics needs regarding data availability (internal & external), data infrastructure, BI and analytical tools. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE: * Bachelor's Degree or 15+ years of work experience. Advanced degree in Engineering or Business preferred * Proven experience in building and leading BI &/or analytics teams that are recognized for their analytical excellence * Effectively engage, lead and influence senior leadership; Led successful initiatives, engaging teams and key stakeholders across business functions and all the way up the organizational ladder * Intellectually curious and have the hunger to proactively and independently identify the opportunities to drive the most impact for the business * Proven track record with demonstrated strategic thinking, formulation and planning skills to deliver against team commitments and work objectives. Strong track record of impactful contributions to the organization * Able to design, review, and optimize project plans, identify critical dependencies, sequencing and risks, and drive projects to success. * Financial acumen and business case proficiency, including scenario modeling and storyboarding.
