Business Development & Strategy Analyst with extensive BizOps experience

Role Summary:

The role is within Volkswagen's US Autonomous Driving Mobility- & Transport-as-Service program (ADMT). The ADMT Strategy & Business Development Analyst role is a key position supporting business model development and GTM commercialization. There will be a high degree of operations and financial modeling, and presentation development in this role, conducting various strategic analyses and creating BD sales materials, board of directors and management presentations across strategy and market development, partner updates, and US operations.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Support on-going development and iterating of US-local business case for the business unit ADMT that spans across product development, operations & pilot testing, and commercialization activities.

  • Support regular business reviews and development of long-term operational & financial planning.

  • Ideate and evaluate potential GTM business models for various areas of the AD value chain across various use cases.

  • Develop complex financial and operational models to inform key decisions in prioritizing partners for business development and/or supporting partner commercial negotiations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to produce reports with KPIs, unit economics, business premises and key growth drivers.

  • Support development of key strategic analyses and joint recommendations for US ADMT actions across various internal Volkswagen AG committee reviews.

  • Define and support future business model development across B2B/B2G sales, fleet management, and G&A such as distribution channels, supply chains, insurance policies and field / customer support activities.

Additional responsibilities

  • Support planning efforts to define local "go-to-market" strategy through pilot projects, participate in implementation and planning of AD pilots.

  • Identify, prioritize, and establish market metrics, use cases, market sizing, business potential, pricing, and KPIs for the US local ADMT market and evaluate these and derive strategic decisions to ensure business success.

  • Prepare and execute project / sub-project committees or steering groups as well as board appearances with various stakeholders from local brands' functional / business units as well as group offices and home companies.

  • Support other BD activities such as ADMT marketing comms, branding, and gov't affairs efforts (e.g. public policy & community stakeholder engagement)

Qualifications

Years of Experience:

  • 5 - 7 years of strategy consulting, investment banking, or BizOps experience (at an early-stage start-up) focused in automotive, technology (SW & HW-driven), mobility, transportation, and/or logistics industry sectors.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, or other quantitative field of study with a history of comparable qualification

Education - Desired:

  • MBA or Masters in quantitative field is strongly preferred

Skills:

  • Strong interest in mobility, self-driving technology and related industries. Able to quickly ramp-up on autonomous driving business models and industry value chain activities.

  • Strong analytical and presentation development skills. Can rapidly structure, storyline, and ake effective use of visuals to deliver key messages to various audiences.

  • Able to process significant amounts of detailed information and then organize, structure, and simplify with high quality of standards.

  • Familiarity with conventional strategy tools, analyses, and frameworks (e.g. industry vertical & value chain analysis, financial modeling & analysis, competitive benchmarking, GTM development & business planning, build buy partner decision making, value creation/disruption)

  • Capable of operating successfully in fast-paced, unstructured, and highly dynamic environments.

  • Able to work cross-functionally across various teams, have self-starter mentality, and drive projects from start to finish.

  • Strong ability to solve complex problems in an efficient, pragmatic and solution-oriented way with proactive, confident, and curious personality.

  • Ability to develop new concepts, present complex topics and build trusting relationships.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex issues to both technical & non-technical audiences.

Required Specialized Skills:

  • High motivation and independence for the development of the new autonomous driving business models.

  • Advanced use of modeling, analytics, and presentation development (PowerPoint, Excel, ThinkCell, Tableau).

  • Comfortable navigating copious amounts of data and complex excel models (operations/financial).

  • Experience in developing external investor & board of directors' management presentations.

Desired Specialized Skills:

  • Strong Project Management experience and organizational skills (e.g. stakeholder, process, requirements management).

  • Experience in strategy consulting, investment banking, BizOps, or business/corporate strategy development at a large corporation is a plus.

  • High level of initiative, self-management, and team orientation as well as an agile mindset.

  • Experience in entrepreneurial activities or start-ups is a plus.

Work Flexibility:

  • Some travel in the US potential international office travel on an as-needed basis

  • Role posting is for hybrid in-office role

Salary range is dependent on factors such as geographical differentials, industry-based experience, skills, training, credentials, and other qualifications. In Belmont, CA, the target salary range is $145000-$180,000 depending on education and experience.
