Inside Sales

  • Business Development Specialist

The Business Development Specialist is responsible for engaging with prospects and customers as part of a CHROM region to generate new and expansion sales opportunities through qualification of inbound leads. In this role, the Business Development Specialist will work closely with a regional sales team to connect customers with sales representatives to facilitate the sales process. The Business Development Specialist will maintain and be expected to consistently meet monthly and quarterly lead conversion goals and regional bookings targets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be the front line for all incoming CHROM leads within a specified regional geography

  • Using various inbound/outbound marketing programs and campaigns, generate qualified prospects through excellent lead follow-up, mining, and nurturing.

  • Convert qualified leads to opportunities with a high degree of opportunity "closed-won" success.

  • Utilize internal and external data resources to conduct tactical research on organizations and contacts to help drive quantity of new contacts and subsequent sales opportunities.

  • Drive growth in 3-5 target accounts in the regional geography using traditional sales practices including strategic meetings, nurturing activities, quoting, closing, and excellent customer support.

  • Uncover needs through discovery and determine the best solutions for each account based on a customer needs analysis.

  • Manage lead pipelines with persistent focus to obtain, drive, and win business within the specified geography.

  • Utilize SFDC to accurately and effectively track activity and update lead, account, and opportunity information, as appropriate..

  • Maintain strong knowledge of the organization's products and services, and build interest by understanding the needs of the customer and offering appropriate solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree (chemistry or biology preferred) or equivalent relevant experience required

  • A seasoned and experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization. Minimum 5 years of experience in a sales or similar role with proven track record of success.

  • Familiarity with the sales process and proven success in a sales environment including lead follow-through, prospecting, quoting, closing, and excellent customer support.

  • 3-5 years of laboratory experience (HPLC, GC, LC-MS) with working knowledge of general laboratory practices including complex workflows, sample preparation, hardware operation, hardware maintenance, data analysis, and reporting.

  • The ability to apply knowledge of business practices, methodologies, and/or principles in the execution of short-term deliverables and sales results. .A knack for conducting independent research and data mining.

  • Experience and ability to build and maintain cross-departmental, multi-functional and collaborative relationships.

  • Knowledge and experience with business software applications including MS Outlook Suite (Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel,) and virtual communication tools required.

  • Experience with SFDC; or an equivalent CRM solution.

  • This role will require up to 20% travel
