Tyler is seeking a Business Development Rep to join our sales enablement team. In this role, you will identify prospects and leads through telemarketing and use of Tyler's CRM system. This is a great position for you if you have solid phone and persuasion skills and want to break into the world of business-to-business sales.

  • Collaborate with the Public Safety Sales Team for Focused Prospecting to assist in uncovering potential opportunities and create a pipeline of qualified sales opportunities

  • Make cold calls to public safety prospects and provide calling support for marketing campaigns within territories

  • Maintain Microsoft Dynamics CRM with customer and competitor information/contact/statistics

  • Work with leadership on reporting to provide visibility of Business Development activities

  • Assist with updates to sales Battle Cards, competitor profiles and other competitive intel requests

  • Monitor and report on follow up of qualified leads by Sales reps

  • Develop effective prospecting skills

  • Develop knowledge of territory, key competitors, existing Tyler opportunities/ relationships, client satisfaction, and key messaging that will lead to meaningful interactions with potential prospects

  • Develop understanding of the competitive landscape in the market and Tyler messaging around assigned software product lines

  • Develop general knowledge of Tyler public safety software and the key differentiators against competitors


  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or relevant Business or Information Technology field (or comparable work experience)

  • Professional phone demeanor is critical; prior phone and/or customer service experience strongly desired.

  • Previous sales experience and prospecting skills a plus

  • Prior exposure to technology/software sales is helpful

  • Experience with Microsoft CRM a plus

  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office products

  • Ability to travel occasionally to trade shows, if required. (less than 10%)

In this role, you will focus on new business development around ANSYS software sales and simulation consulting services in the Central region, including Ontario Canada and the following states – MI, IN, IL, WI, MO, IA, MN, KS, NE, SD, ND. Your responsibilities will include: * Lead generation and early stage sales opportunity qualification * Actively nurturing and prospecting into new named accounts through outbound calls, emails and marketing campaign follow-ups * Identifying, researching and connecting with prospective clients to maintain a high volume of early-stage sales activity needed for pipeline development and achieving territory sales objectives * Conducting needs assessments, identifying key decision makers and outlining relevant solution options sufficient for setting value definition and solution development appointments for territory sales staff * Accurately forecasting early stage sales opportunities and documenting compelling events, business drivers, budgetary constraints and qualification criteria * Serving as a trusted business advisor to establish initial thought-leadership, relationship development and stakeholder interest with prospective clients across all levels of the organization * Coordinating sales efforts, messaging and campaigns with the regional sales manager * Efficiently leveraging CRM to manage and track all activities related to sales opportunities * Requires up to 10% travel * B.S. in an engineering discipline or B.A. in economics and/or business * 1+ years business development experience with a proven track record of success * Demonstrated understanding of engineering analysis and technology * Ability to diagnose business needs before prescribing technical solutions * Naturally curious with a passion for making connections * Ability and willingness to connect comfortably at VP levels * Unwavering persistence, tenacity and creativity in prospecting (phone/email/social) * Excellent communication, written and organizational skills * Desire to perform all interactions with integrity, respect and transparency * Fluency in and LinkedIn Our employees at Rand Worldwide work here because of our vision into the future of technology solutions and our goal in developing higher quality deliverables for existing clients and new markets.
