Job Description:

Responsible for developing new business as well as maintaining and driving sales at accounts to achieve efficient and profitable sales of the company's products to targeted levels. Assists team to optimize existing accounts and prospects. Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing and new accounts. Interface with other departments as needed to drive business within accounts and resolve any issues that may arise. May provide direction / assignments to Sales Support Representatives, Senior Sales Support Representatives, and Sales Support Managers to help develop sales business.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrate an ability to build and/or establish strong relationships with new accounts and within major existing accounts including product managers, buyers, planners, etc.

  • Meet or exceed sales and profit goals established by upper management.

  • Develop and Execute upon business plans with Business Development Manager, NAM or Sales Director to meet those goals.

  • Strive to increase net sales by reducing Returns and Allowances.

  • Exhibit strong leadership skills and motivate sales team to perform their duties in excellent fashion.

  • Assist Business Development Managers, National Account Managers, and Sales Directors with inside or outside sales calls, website and catalog analysis or store visits.

  • Assist customers with all account related questions, issues, or concerns. Provide accurate, timely information to the customers regarding inquiries such as products, pricing, and quotes.

  • Execute upon direction from BDM / NAM / Director with respect to RMAs, returns & allowances (R&A), quotes, promotions, sell through, inventory management, turns, forecasts, and any other account activities that will impact financial results for the account(s), and report findings to Business Development Manager / NAM / Director.

  • Provide customer recaps for all meetings and take a leadership role to ensure all action items are executed upon including delegation of assignments to account representatives.

  • Assist sales team with all account related questions, issues, and concerns.

  • Complete the minimum number of outbound calls or other sales initiatives to accounts and/or end users each day as directed by the Business Development Manager / NAM / Sales Director.

  • Follow the sales team's procedures for managing and maintaining opportunity pipeline, quotes, bids, etc. and be prepared to present that information when requested.

  • Keep a monthly recap of sales calls, including potential opportunity worth in dollars, and be prepared to present that information when requested.

  • Analyze and understand industry market trends, competition, products, and pricing that may impact sales efforts and communicate this information to all sales management and other departments as necessary.

  • Assist in optimizing profitability at each assigned account.

  • Conduct and/or coordinate sales and training meetings as required. Attend all required meetings.

  • Review and analyze daily sales and compare actual v. projected / plan results and be prepared to present that information when requested.

  • Recognize and escalate any and all critical issues regarding accounts and/or company policies to management immediately.

  • Provide positive reinforcement and constructive criticism to team members and escalate any issues as they arise.

  • Travel to tradeshows and customer sites required. Depending on assignment, international travel may be required.

  • Learn and remain proficient on the Belkin product lines.

  • Conduct self in professional and courteous manner.

  • Take full responsibility for individual actions.

  • Fulfill responsibilities under ISO 9001 and 14001; understand and fully support IS0 system.

  • Comply with Health and Safety requirements of Belkin.

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

  • Understand and follow company rules and regulations.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned and required.

    Develop new business, identify and sell to customer needs, translate product features to benefits, have good listening skills, be sensitive to customers, deliver effective presentations, negotiate well, use closing skills appropriately, develop sales skills.

  • Teamwork: Meet all team deadlines and responsibilities, listen to others and value opinions, help team leader to meet goals, welcome newcomers and promote a team atmosphere.

Education and Experience

Requirements:
  • Four year degree with business focus

  • One to three years' experience in a sales capacity or equivalent position. Depending on channel, previously industry experience may be required.

  • Proven track record of sales growth and/or prospecting.

  • Ability to multi-task and maintain accuracy is required.

  • Computer literate with a high degree of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong presentation skills required.

  • Excellent phone skills and etiquette required, as the majority of business is done over the phone.

  • Willingness and ability to travel 50% international and/ or domestic.

The Business Development Manager will work closely with the Director of Sales eCommerce and other cross functional teams to exceed revenue and profit goals within the channel. The successful candidate will have a firm grasp and understanding of eCommerce centric site merchandising activities and optimization tactics. Additionally, candidate must have a working knowledge of Amazon.com, as they are the largest channel partner in the eCommerce sales channel. Education and Experience Requirements: * 5+ years of successful business development, account management or interactive marketing. experience in a channel sales-based organization with extensive retail and eCommerce exposure * 2+ years working with Amazon.com. * 3+ years' experience with a consumer goods supplier selling through eCommerce preferably in the CE space. * Proven track record in consultative interactive and web account support and marketing. * Strong knowledge of Internet technology and Internet marketing principles. * Interested in "Discoverability" eCommerce tactics. * Computer savvy, proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. * Experience using website content management systems, analytics solutions, and customer resource management systems (Salesforce.com, in particular). * Significant business-to-consumer experience focused in eCommerce, online marketing, campaign development and management, customer acquisition and retention. * Proven successful track record in managing website keyword optimization and marketing, affiliate partnerships, merchandising, email marketing, digital media and online marketing campaigns to elicit conversion. * History of strong external relationships with partners and vendors. * Must be a team player who prioritizes the team and overall business objectives. * Excellent written, verbal, negotiation and presentation skills (able to create and deliver presentations to senior management). * Proactive, well organized self-starter with strong project management skills.
