Primary Role

The BD Proposal & Integration Manager takes the lead on all bid/proposal activities. Will manage and oversee the acquisition integration activities as well as perform additional duties as requested or required to support the Business Development activities of the company.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop compelling and compliant bid/proposal response; assemble and develop formats or templates for submissions that reoccur with some frequency, assuring that all solicitation requirements are met, yet the format is flexible enough to meet the needs of any specific submission.

  • Ensure that proposal submissions are compliant with the applicable instructions as well as department & corporate policy; produce and perform rigorous quality assurance on both draft and final products; facilitate formal and informal proposal reviews and ensure bid/proposal submissions are delivered on time.

  • Conduct bid/proposal lessons learned and document and implement actions to continually improve overall process; provide on-going feedback about market viability, e.g. pricing, structure, competitive position, etc.

  • Support other business development, operational, and corporate initiatives such as creating white papers, participating in strategy and information sessions, developing presentation materials, and providing writing and editing support to client-facing corporate members

  • Takes a lead role to insure the transfer of information during the integration period including all financial, customer and operational data is accurately, efficiently and timely integrated into the appropriate systems. Proposes and facilitates activities to support the integration of newly acquired business to ensure successful integration and/or alignment. Effectively manage integration activities and make recommendations to resolve any transition challenges; continuous improvement

  • Develop a streamlined integration roadmap within the framework of American Water's integration methodology and in accordance with corporate policy.

  • Liase with leadership and stakeholders where necessary, to keep abreast of developments and to facilitate effective coordination

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Microsoft Office Product Suite (including PowerPoint, Word and Excel), SAP (or comparable customer service system), Salesforce (preferred)

  • Working knowledge of utility tariffs and/or operations a plus

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details with the ability to support several projects simultaneously

  • Ability to think logically and analytically

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)

  • Strong business and financial acumen (Utility and/or acquisition experience preferred)

  • Previous experience in business development or back office support desired

  • Project Management experience a plus

  • Ability to work both individually and within a team environmen

Experience/Education

  • 5 - 10 years of business development, project management or consulting experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, acquisitions, project management or utility management

  • Utility experience strongly preferred with water and/or waste water experience a plus

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Engineering, Business, Accounting, Finance, Project Management or similiar degree required

  • Masters degree in related discipline preferred

  • Excellent computer skills; Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office, SAP, SalesForce
