The primary function of the Business Development Officer is to acquire additional outstanding loan volume in the cash value line of credit product by developing existing relationships and acquiring new leads with insurance agents and financial advisors throughout the country.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Establish contacts with various insurance agents and financial advisors throughout the Bank's footprint. Work with these individuals to deliver the message of our product through presentations to the insurance agents/agencies.

  • Work with Valley's Retail Bank administration to coordinate the generation and closing of credit lines throughout our branch footprint. Provide technical support to the branch network in problem resolution.

  • Meet with insurance agents, who act as financial advisors for their clients, to discuss the added value of the Bank's cash surrender value life insurance line product.

  • Coordinate and communicate with the Bank's various branches to close the approved lines of credit. Discuss with these branches the borrower's background to develop the possibility of cross selling other products to the respective borrowers.

  • Mentor Junior Business Development Officers in gaining training and experience to increase product in the marketplace.

  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of various computer software applications to include at a minimum Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Strong analytical abilities.

  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills/teamwork skills.

  • Ability to multi-task (Calling on prospects and following up on calls outstanding/or new prospects).

  • High level of interpersonal and social skills needed to interact with high net worth insurance agents, bank customers, and other prospective clients (networking).

  • Good administrative skills.

  • Excellent level of knowledge of the product.

  • Strong presentation skills.

Required Experience:

  • High School Diploma and a minimum of 3 years' experience in insurance products/sales.

  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3 years' related experience preferred.

Job Overview Develop relationships with distributors and customers to grow equipment and parts sales revenues and market share as the Company field sales representative for assigned key account customers. These customers are large local/regional customers who have the potential for growth and market share but are not large enough to qualify as a National Account. Responsible for sustainable growth and development of customers who desire and have the ability to have a stronger partnership with Komatsu beyond conventional business to achieve increased market share and profitability. Identifies industry trends, competitive issues and distributor issues and coordinates activities among other Komatsu departments (e.g., service, parts, supply chain) to ensure timely resolution of issues and positive customer relationships. Key Job Responsibilities * Develop and execute action plans that will achieve sales and market share goals for assigned accounts. Seek out, identify and act upon key opportunities that will foster long term partnerships with Komatsu on select accounts. * Work in partnership with District Managers to create initiatives and a business climate that fosters growth within the assigned accounts. * Coordinate between the customer, dealer and internal departments to ensure timely forecasts, proactive engagement and high product acceptance. * Develop productive business relationships with customers and dealers. Act as a liaison between the dealer, the customer, and Komatsu Service and Parts organization(s) to ensure timely resolution to equipment operational issues. * Elevate dealer enthusiasm and focus through proactive training, coaching, technical presentations and job studies to further sustained and meaningful engagement. Conduct product and application surveys as needed. * Analyze and evaluate market changes and trends as well as competitive data with assigned accounts and report on same to management. * Provide accurate and timely reporting; oral and written. * Attend trade shows and conventions as necessary. * Operate within Company guidelines and budget constraints, utilizing effective time and travel management. * Responsible for Company issued equipment and its maintenance. Qualifications/Requirements * College degree in engineering, business or marketing along with direct experience with Komatsu equipment is highly preferred but may consider someone with equivalent experience (min. of 7 years) of applicable inside experience with Komatsu equipment product marketing, service or sales. * Must have a basic understanding of field applications engineering and common uses of Komatsu products. * Requires a high degree of ability to assimilate and utilize technical product knowledge. * Highly developed communication (verbal and written) skills. * Ability to have keen foresight and judgment through past experience and understand the long-term impact in decisions that are made. * Must be able to deal with complex situations, think creatively and conduct additional research as necessary to get to a positive outcome. * Must be results driven and have excellent organization and follow up skills. * Must have excellent time management and ability to plan effectively. * Must demonstrate ability to be flexible and adaptable to all levels of the organization including challenging personalities, internally and externally and leverage the effective relationships that are established to get goals accomplished. * Must have a proven track record that reflects being self-motivated and a self-starter as this position requires the ability to work independently and to be able to utilize critical thinking skills to resolve problems and be creative to meet the bests interests of all parties involved. * Must be persistent however tactful. * Must be able to travel when needed (may be up to 70%).
