In this role, you will serve as the lead proposal and business development manager for a number of different new business opportunities. This role is specifically focused on leading the response to RFPs, inbound leads, and referrals.

Business Development Manager:

Do you love finding creative solutions to marketing needs and technical problems? Do you love asking challenging questions and working on a variety of fast-moving opportunities? Are you driven to win new business? Then this position is for you.

In this role, you will be an active member of our sales team responsible for following up on sales opportunities, crafting proposals, gathering internal input, and making sure that the solution meets the client's goals. This is a team-oriented role-you will work closely with agency leaders, account managers, and subject matter experts. After getting client approval for a new project, you'll also be responsible for ensuring a smooth hand-off to the project delivery team.

As a part of this position, you will provide the following:

  • Provide a welcoming experience to new clients. This position is focused exclusively on new clients. We want to make sure they have a partnership-level experience right from the start so, once an opportunity has been identified, you'll be responsible for setting up the initial meetings with the client and leading the client through the sales process.

  • Craft new proposals and estimates. Writing a new proposal requires answering questions, teaching clients about our solutions, and helping clients and internal teams to resolve any concerns. As part of the proposal process, you will develop new strategies and work with the internal team of subject matter experts to gather additional input and creative ideas.

  • Get client approval. We want clients to be excited about their project. You will be responsible for following up with clients, attending pitches, and getting approval for moving forward.

  • Share what you know. The delivery teams are always looking to better serve our clients so they will be looking to you to share all the information you learned in the proposal process-this will include editing client briefs, transitioning knowledge to account managers, and attending the internal project kickoff meeting.


  • 5+ years of experience working with a digital agency with at least 3 years of experience specifically in account management or sales

  • Proven ability to act as trusted partner and consultant to Director and C-Level executives

  • Expert-level knowledge of digital marketing strategies across social media and websites

  • Expert-level knowledge of campaign strategy, digital advertising, and SEO best practices

  • Deep knowledge of popular website tools and CMSs, such as Wordpress and Drupal

  • Strong communications and customer service skills with the ability to interact with technical people, business stakeholders, clients, etc. An ability to look beyond face-value conversations; read between the lines and listen for what isn't being said.

  • Strong presentation and speaking skills, including expert knowledge in Google Slides, Keynote, or PowerPoint.

  • Ability to adapt to new situations, solve problems on the fly, and communicate with those around you. Teamwork and agility required.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a sense of perspective.

  • Demonstrated business planning abilities (developing timelines, using CRMs, sharing notes, etc.)

  • Desire to be a leader, providing feedback, identifying growth opportunities and helping to up-level skill sets of your co-workers.

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree
