POSITION SUMMARY
Sciens Building Solutions is seeking a Business Development Manager. The Business Development Manager's focus will be on new opportunities via contractors and end-users; managing and growing the business through new construction, renovations and retrofits within the assigned territory.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sells fire systems, electrical systems, and other related systems. Achieves minimum basic annual quota of $3M or more in accordance with assigned gross margins, on a consistent basis.
Performs needs assessments, develops sales proposals, estimates, specifications, and presentations. Provides accurate forecast of activity and potential sales using Sciens CRM, including tracking of award data.
Secures and verifies sub-contracts quotes as required.
Negotiate, qualify, and submit value engineering alternatives when required.
Reviews executed gross margin performance of projects and makes adjustments as needed to secure estimated gross margin.
Regularly review Dodge reports, published construction data, invitations to bid, emails and any other materials/sources to support achievement of quota.
Demonstrates strong prospecting skills and the ability to build customer relationships through consultative selling and promoting customer confidence in Sciens. Searches for and qualifies opportunities on an ongoing basis; follows up with prospects in a timely manner.
Conducts post-installation follow up by contacting customers, ensuring commitments were met, and affirming customer satisfaction once the customer has purchased a system.
Maintains an in-depth knowledge of complete line of products/services and customers' issues and needs through in-house training, networking, and research.
Utilizes approved marketing materials to present sales presentations and proposals to prospects, assuring the customer understands our value proposition, positive features, and advantages of our products and services over those of the competition.
Independently establishes call plans and customer follow up strategies and tactics; consistently applies time and territory management techniques. Influences new construction specifications through engineering relationships and educational meetings/presentations.
Works with operations, finance, legal, and other inside and outside resources as needed to obtain sales.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of two years meeting and exceeding quotas for fire and/or electrical system sales contractors and end users.
Consistent sales performance, ability to organically grow business by providing solutions to new client base.
Consistently met or exceeded quota in fire and/or electrical sales for the past 2-5 years.
In-depth understanding of electrical systems, installation, and testing. Technical aptitude with understanding of drawings and electrical codes.
Experience selling technical solutions through the contracting tier.
Effective communication skills and ability to present before broad audiences.
Strong negotiation skills and competitive spirit.
Experience with electrical estimating software, preferably Conest IntelliBid.
Knowledge of current code NFPA 70, 72, 101, and Florida building code.
Strong technical understanding of materials and methods used in the installation of electrical projects.
Valid driver's license.
Able to travel by air and/or ground overnight, as necessary.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field.
Candidates with a combination of education and experience will also be considered.
