Basic Qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of business principles. Administrative Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program with a preference in Computer Science, Software, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
Strongly preferred: Candidates with high-level Data Analytics Skills.
Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an opening in for an enthusiastic, innovative and dependable Business Development Intern who wants to jumpstart their career learning from an amazing team of professionals. You will work with our team through each phase of formulation of strategy and business development activities for GDMS, including supporting capture teams for new programs and business ventures, managing the allocated annual investment funds, and helping with development of long range strategic plans. The intern will brainstorm campaign ideas, develop marketing material, plan events, research client data, and perform some administrative work.
Key Responsibilities:
The Business Development intern will be responsible for supporting and developing business strategy growing our market share. This position includes working with customers and industry partners and draw upon the broader capabilities of General Dynamics.
This position requires strong communication skills with the ability to rapidly grasp advanced technologies and how they may be applied to satisfy customer requirements. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated ability to work both independently and within highly motivated teams. The key to the success of M&SS is excellent leadership throughout the organization.
We are looking for interns with leadership capabilities, who know how and when to drive to a solution. We seek and grow leaders who shape team/organization culture creating high morale, lean forward motivation and full engagement. The interns leadership style should scale where it is focused as the level of responsibilities change and it should incorporate effective communications.
The interns we seek show a history of taking reasonable, managed risks in the absence of purity of information or a guarantee of success. Courage to deal with reality, removing any personal emotional involvement and looking at the facts with honesty and humility is another desired trait. Our interns think strategically and develop long lasting trusting relationships with customers and colleagues based on their track record of delivering on their commitments to each group. Experience in business development, program management, systems engineering, surface warfare systems, and an understanding government contracting procedures and business development methodologies, including bid and capture strategies, is preferred.
Additional Responsibilities:
Investigates and researches new business opportunities
Helps to build long range strategies and plans to acquire new business
Assists in the development of short and long-range business forecasts, sales plans, and marketing plans
Performs administrative, analytical and research activities in support of business development and acquisition, strategic planning, proposal development and marketing functions
Assists in gathering data on competitors and analyzes their prices, sales and methods of operation
Analyzes and researches customer information, product/service preferences, market size, penetration, marketing practices and trends
Exercises creative thinking and idea generation to advance our business performance
Delivers innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs
Follows industry trends and pursues technology innovation to ensure GDMS offerings are cost competitive and superior to industry leading capabilities and best practices
Participates in promotional activities and trade shows, working with developers, advertisers, and production managers, to market products and services

Salary Note
This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
Combined Salary Range
USD $22.30 - USD $24.00 /Hr.
