Position Summary

The Business Development Director position is a key sales role within the TCS Retail Unit sales team for North America, responsible for executing regional sales and business development strategies for target companies within the Retail Unit.

The candidate will play a hunter role, responsible for acquiring new clients for TCS. The candidate will target sales of TCS's entire portfolio of IT Outsourcing services including Consulting, BPO, ADM, IS and Engineering Services for targeted firms. The position's primary responsibility is to achieve new sales results for TCS' services in the sales regions identified above. The candidate will develop revenue-producing relationships with decision-making CxO level executives at targeted firms, as well as drive the sales cycle of all assigned sales opportunities from initial prospect communication through contract execution. The role is supported by on-site and offshore Pre-Sales & Solutioning teams.


  • Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets established by the Retail Sales Head and execute business development, offering positioning and sales strategies as a member of the sales team for North America.

  • Achieve lead generation, prospecting and other sales management goals designed to build an optimal sales pipeline.

  • Personally develop strong, long-term relationships and referrals with senior management at targeted firms

  • Manage the end-to-end sales process for all opportunities including initial client communication, on-site presentations, RFI response, multi-day client workshops, RFP submission, negotiation and deal signing. The candidate is the focal point for all communication and sales activities with prospects and customers.

  • Work in close collaboration with TCS' presales team & delivery teams to ensure that proposed offerings and services fully meet customers' business and technology needs.

  • Provide support to customers during initial phases of an engagement. Follow up and ensure total client satisfaction through the life cycle of the relationship.

  • Support the team's market research and competitive positioning analysis in partnership with regional presales, marketing and product development staff.

  • Adhere to all TCS Sales, Human Resource, and corporate ethical policies, standards and guidelines.

  • Demonstrate strong personal communication and presentation skills to establish interest, credibility and trust.

Skill and Experience Requirements

  • Strong hunter profile with a proven track record of success in selling technology outsourcing services into the Retail Industry

  • Demonstration of a consistent over-achievement of client acquisition and sales revenue targets.

  • At least 8 years of experience in selling IT services within the region, preferably working in a leading IT services & products firm with prior experience of working with offshore teams.

  • Strong local contact base and access to alumni, local associations, industry associations within the region.

  • Good understanding of the Retail industry.

  • Experience with vendor selection processes including RFI and RFP issuance and response management;

  • Experience of working on opportunities run by Third Party Advisory Firms such as TPI, Equaterra , etc

  • Understanding of customer decision making crit eria as it pertains to offshore services, consulting, enterprise solutions

  • Ability to maintain strong sales management focus during sales cycles that are typically six months to one year in duration.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage often complex negotiations with senior-level business and technology executives at leading Retail Companies.

  • Thorough command of English, both written and spoken.

Travel Requirements

  • The candidate is expected to travel regularly to regional prospect and customer locations to support lead generation, sales presentations, contract negotiations, engagement implementation, and ongoing relationship building.

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Responsibilities The Director of Business Development - HR Consulting plans and executes sales activity to ensure that new business development and client retention occurs to support the long-term growth plans of each market. Business Development * Drive the development of new client relationships through effective daily planning, prospecting, marketing, appointment setting and participating in professional networking events. * Meet quarterly and annual personal sales and gross profit objectives. * Pursue companies that fit the Advanced Resources ideal client profile to build a trusting relationship and provide services including HR Consulting, interim HR, direct hire HR and Workforce Solutions. * Consult with client contacts to understand current & future business needs and project requirements. This includes scoping projects with the client to advise on complexity and level of effort, talent level needed and timeframe in which the project will be completed. * Build, maintain and qualify an appropriate sales pipeline for the assigned quota. * Maintain clear, accurate and timely sales/opportunity activity in the company CRM. * Participate and be responsible for development and delivery of all client proposals and contracts. * Attend weekly pipeline calls/meetings with direct manager and HRCS team. * Understand cross division selling opportunities when they are presented. * Represent Advanced Group as the most respected consulting services firm in our industry. Client Retention * Clarify client expectations and establish goals for advancing our client partnerships. * Expand business relationships within each client via referrals to new departments, and exceed client expectations to the degree that clients refer us to new companies. * Reconcile invoicing and A/R issues as they arise. * Foster positive relationships to encourage increased sales. Proactively market candidates to clients. Work proactively with clients to solve talent challenges. * Conduct ongoing quality reviews with clients and consultants to ensure progress of the project and consult on potential additional resources. Team Relations * Work with HRCS, AFCS and Workforce Solution teams to ensure client needs are best met and compliment branch sales activity. * Partner with the HRCS Resource Manager to provide SME-level expertise on client meetings and the selection of Affiliate Consultants for projects. * Build strong team relationships with Operations and Back Office teams and communicate frequently on upcoming and existing client needs. * Work with the recruiting and operations team toward meeting our overall branch revenue and GP goals. Qualifications * Minimum of 7 years of successful professional services sales industry experience and/or 10+ years of HR experience and knowledge (i.e. SVP HR, VP HR, VP Talent or significant positions delivering talent solutions/project-based solutions). * Demonstrated ability to thrive in a sales- driven environment. * Proficient in establishing strategic and practical business development plans including programmatic campaigns. * Experienced in account and or engagement management. * Bachelor's degree and a MHR or MBA is highly preferred. * Ability to plan objectives and provide direction, guidance, and assistance to others. Also must use deductive reasoning, research and decision-making skills to solve problems. * Possess a level of domain knowledge in the HR area in order to at least have discussions with EVP HR, SVP HR, CFO, COO and Presidents. * Ability to listen, assimilate and identify potential project opportunities that Advanced Resources is qualified to respond to, effectively communicate next steps to client/prospect in order to allow a SOW/proposal to be presented at the appropriate time. * Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, in order to interact with clients, candidates, and vendors on a regular basis, including a deep understanding of Statement of Work (SOW's) and fees. * Ability to comprehend written sources of information (read reports, reference materials) as well as verbal sources of information. * Ability to use oral communication and presentation skills to conduct effective client meetings and propose solutions. * Ability to independently organize work to meet established objectives. * Ability to gather and analyze data. * Resourceful, flexible and patient.
