SUMMARY:

  • Are you looking for a fantastic career at Aqua Essential Utilities. We have a great opportunity for a Business Development Coordinator in our Austin TX corporate Headquarters. Under the direction of the Texas State President, this person will be Administering and managing the business development and acquisition process from inception to closing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Primary Duties and Responsibilities)

  • Manages all aspects of the Business Development (BD) process including researching new accounts, opportunities, and contacts, managing timelines and schedules and providing status updates as needed.

  • Tracks all new development activity and provides routine reports to State President and others as may be needed, including Salesforce entries. Maintains project tracking spreadsheets for developments across each region of the state.

  • Works with local operations and customer service team to ensure new customers are onboarded in an efficient and timely manner.

  • Manages the business development, CCN, and acquisition closing process consisting, of but not limited to, tracking and managing the process for obtaining regulatory approvals, particularly those of the Texas Public Utility Commission and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, needed to connect new customers as well as the asset conveyance and closing process.

  • Creates and manages legal and operational closing checklists. Manages due diligence and transition meetings for Aqua Texas. Ensures compliance with Aqua acquisition and business development playbook.

  • Coordinates and manages third party resources related to business development, consultants, engineers, and attorneys as needed to facilitate growth, including coordinating the preparing contracts related to the installation of new assets.

  • Acts as a liaison between the organization and developers with respect to new business matters. Coordinates review of requests for a water main extension, wastewater capacity availability, and other requests for capacity and service with other internal departments including operations, engineering and corporate development. Keeps clients updated on the status of their requests.

  • Prepares contracts for asset purchase agreements and contiguous extensions with developers. Supports the review of developer projects and contracts. Composes and prepares letters to developers on projects.

  • Schedules regular strategic planning meetings with the Business Development Director, Business Development Manager, and/or the business development team covering the status of all development activities.

  • Tracks and monitors all administrative activities and ensures team is aware of any issues impacting the timelines.

  • Assists and/or writes responses to Request for Information, Request for Qualification, and Request for Proposals as needed for acquisitions.

  • Prepare business development materials for presentation for Kitchen Cabinet, Investment Committee, Board of Directors, and Business Development Conference, and Internal Board Meeting.

  • Identifies and researches new prospects obtaining political, financial, compliance and operational backgrounds and records.

  • Manages memberships, calendars, sponsorships, and events related to business development, including Texas Municipal League Conference, industry association conferences, and any other events as may be needed to promote Aqua Texas.

  • As needed, attends events, municipal meetings and other networking events as it relates to business development.

  • Manages and implements marketing materials for all meetings, community events, and mailings.

  • Assists the Business Development Director, Business Development Manager, and the State President in other administrative roles as needed.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS (Required Experience, Education, Licenses, and Certifications)

  • A high school diploma or equivalent

  • A minimum of 3 years administrative experience

  • A valid U.S. Drivers License.

  • Accounting and/or experience working with financial platforms is highly desirable

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: (Examples below)

  • Advanced Microsoft office skills (email, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; communicate effectively (clearly, concisely and professionally) with internal customers

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Familiarity with pipeline installation, engineering drawing, cost estimating, etc.

  • Ability to read and interpret subdivision plans

  • Ability to work well under pressure

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines

  • A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered multi-tasking environment

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Perform sedentary work- exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

  • See, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.

  • Operate standard office equipment.

  • Working conditions may include travel to work sites of Essential Utilities and/or other constituents (if applicable)

  • Occasional local travel is required
