What You'll Do
The business development consultant will be a key contributor to the growth of our employee benefit practice. This associate will serve as the liasion between our sales and service team creating a seamless transition, and act as a subject matter expert resource. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Manages all aspects of the sales cycle, including creating a strong relationship with potential clients, developing an effective sales strategy, closing deals, and handling post-sale service issues
Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs
Attends business meetings with prospective clients
Promote IMA's products/services addressing or predicting clients' objectives
Keep records of sales, revenue, invoices etc. (SalesForce)
Provide trustworthy feedback and after-sales support
Conduct high-level industry research to develop effective sales solutions
Promote the company's products or services to prospective clients
Provide continuous, constructive feedback to Producers
Interact with clients and respond to inquiries about IMA's products or service
Carrier and Vendor Relationships
Develops strong carrier and vendor relationships to support and leads negotiation and advocacy during client coverage placement and renewal process, utilizing department peers and/or leadership as necessary
Coordinates with internal subject matter experts and practice leaders to bring current and emerging markets and products and brings solutions to the table that are aligned with clients' stated goals through a commitment to continuous learning
Production Partnership
Participates in finalist and/or prospect meetings in partnership with production staff as appropriate
Participates in the development of prospect requests for proposals (RFPs), providing personnel responses and other information as requested
Partners with production staff to ensure compensation received is properly executed
Internal Resource
Availability to serve as a resource for other agency benefits staff throughout the entire benefits division
Strong commitment to participation in department or agency-wide committees and special projects
Supports and demonstrates IMA's core values

You Should Have:
5+ years of similar or related experience required, broker experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of Self-funded and fully Insured plans.
Demonstrates above average business acumen related to strategy execution, interdependencies, and decision consequences
Demonstrates positive mindset and ability to optimize performance through collaboration
Demonstrates consistent ability to adapt in stressful situations and develop strategies for improvements in organizational effectiveness
Demonstrates advanced skills with MS Office Suite
Demonstrates strong ability and commitment to excellence in communication, both written and oral, through active listening, information sharing, and a focus on solutions
Attains and maintains Life and Health licensure
4-year degree in business or related discipline preferred
