JOB DESCRIPTION:

New Client Business Development:

  • Work with operations management and leadership to acquire new business in target line of business.

  • Develop deep understanding of company's services and providing knowledge of operational and technical abilities to develop high quality solution proposals

  • Identify new opportunities and accounts, create and propose custom client solutions, and close net new business

  • Directly accountable for driving year-over-year revenue growth by developing and executing on a tactical business development plan

  • Develop and implement winning strategies for proposals and presentations

  • Monitor and report on emergent industry trends and competitive landscape

  • Administer client relationship management tool Salesforce or other as assigned

  • Attend relevant conferences or trade shows

  • Travel as required

Existing Client Account Management

  • Contribute to the overall customer experience by establishing the strong working relationship with existing clients, implementing solutions selling and relationship management

  • Work closely with the Appen Delivery team to promote and drive Land & Expand efforts

  • Liaise with Business Unit Head and Operations team on the execution of projects

  • Liaise with other members of the global Business Development team

  • Recommend ways to work with other teams to drive new revenue

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A bachelor's degree required/master's degree preferred

  • 7-10 years minimum experience working in sales, business development, or related field

  • A demonstrated track record of identifying and closing net new business with year-over-year growth in revenue in value-added technology solutions

  • Experience selling to large enterprise accounts as well as account management experience with Fortune 500 clients

  • Experience working in professional technical services selling complex custom solutions

  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and proven ability to achieve win/win outcomes

  • Must be a motivated self-starter that can establish a course of action

  • Demonstrated time management, organizational skills, detail oriented and a strong commitment to personal and organizational accountability

  • Demonstrated experience creating productive, cooperative relationships and conflict resolution skills

  • Excellent communication skills including an ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing or verbally.

  • Ability to drive customer service excellence and proficient in managing client relationships

Job Summary The Business Development Manager is an energetic, outgoing and optimistic self-starter with a sales mentality and a desire to learn more and develop skills in the exploding world of data analytics. The Business Development Manager sells a suite of data-driven products to clients in the financial services, retail and insurance industries by building relationships, encouraging product usage and adoption, and providing ongoing support. Responsibilities * Pitch data-driven products and analytics engagements to business leaders; convert relationships into consulting or product clients * Customize presentations that highlight customer insights * Create strategies to prioritize and penetrate prospective clients * Persist through challenges related to getting in touch with prospects; combat objections and pursue sales through creativity, persistence and a can-do attitude * Lead new client on-boarding, emphasizing product use cases and business results * Build relationships within client organizations to expand engagements * Educate clients on data insights and new product enhancements * Provide input on social media and PR opportunities to drive awareness of the brand * Up-sell and cross-sell clients across our complete portfolio of services and products * Meet defined targets for client contacts, product demos, product sales and client engagement * Stay on top of competitive developments and use client contact to gather requirements and to inform our product road maps * Operate autonomously and efficiently under limited supervision Requirements * Bachelor's degree * 2 - 3 years of experience in a sales role with proven experience in closing sales with prospective clients * Strong presentation skills; good verbal skills and executive presence * Ability to build relationships and navigate organizations to find the right points of contact * Ability to tailor a sales pitch for a prospect and combat common objectives with confidence * Customer service experience and demonstrated skill in retaining clients through engagement * Experience in leveraging data to inform business decisions * Some knowledge of digital marketing and data analytics * Receptive to constructive feedback, striving for continuous improvement * Goal-oriented mentality and the ability to manage time well and push to achieve outcomes in order to meet targets * Ability to problem-solve and think quickly The Company is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer, and does not discriminate in any hiring or employment practices.
