Reporting to the Vice President of Sales North America, the Business Development and Industry Marketing Director will lead driving ISV's growth and business plan through industry market segmentation and technical product differentiation. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and achieving multi-year growth plans of established Emerson Isolation Valves brands in the North America market including: Keystone, Vanessa, KTM and Clarkson. Business Development Managers will report into this position.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop Strategies using Market Trends and understanding Customer Impact

  • Identify and align market segmentation within the strategic growth plan to appropriate regions/Impact Partners (channel).

  • Identify, develop and execute cross-functional growth initiatives that will meet order commitments and ensure profitable growth is achieved.

  • Build processes to detect regional economic conditions, trends in market activity, technology trends, changes in customer behaviors, growth opportunities and competitor actions. Gather and disseminate relevant market information to the Marketing Department and within Sales Team.

  • Coordinate marketing collateral, tools, and programs to maximize success in the region.

  • Develop and implement plans to drive and grow MRO (KOB3) and life cycle services business maximizing revenue and profit from installed base.

  • Develop, maintain and drive an installed based lifecycle products model including service repair and competitive displacement

  • Identify, qualify product technology within the portfolio as well as development required that will allow expansion of segment and application growth for the future

Business Development:

  • Oversee and monitor industry and customer trends and impacts to portfolio/revenue

  • Drive products on AML's for all of the portfolio categories

  • Expansion of white space applications

Regional Technical Support:

  • Lead team of Business Development Managers

  • Facilitate increased technical expertise throughout Impact Partners (channel) and customer care organization through Business Development Managers

  • Facilitates and/or provides training on product to Impact Partners, customers and within Emerson internally

Market Intelligence:

  • Collect local market and competitor intelligence

  • Monitor changing market conditions by industry and key customers;

  • Responsible for developing comprehensive internal reports and keeping leadership aware of trends

Drive Collaboration across the Emerson Business

  • Communicate and collaborate with Global Product SBU leaders and management on product drivers to market growth

  • Collaborate with other world area sales leaders globally and within the Americas to drive growth programs including project sales in the Americas

  • Collaborate and drive synergy with other Emerson Final Control business units to achieve shared growth.

  • Responsible for the annual product growth plan in conjunction with the Director of Regional Sales and the Director of Global SBU leader


  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in marketing or Engineering; MBA preferred

  • Successful track record of creating and business plans to achieve consistent sales growth

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in product sales, distribution management, marketing, direct sales, or sales management preferably in the industrial space preferably with valves

  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to use data powerfully. High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is required

  • Demonstrated experience in growth in existing and new markets, with a proven record in acquiring new large projects or customers

  • Ability to communicate, present and speak in public leading large groups

  • Excellent Presentation Skills.

  • Able to travel 50% of time, or as required
