The small Business Development Center is seeking a Business Consultant, SBDC, who is flexible, a self-starter who is customer service driven, able to work independently, and willing to take a hands-on, proactive approach to resolving operational issues.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
The UGA Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Georgia State is a public service and outreach program under the J. Mack Robinson College of Business Entrepreneurship & Innovation Institute. The SBDC Business Consultant is a staff position reporting to the Area Director. The consultant is responsible for providing counseling and delivering programs to individuals, businesses, communities, and organizations in their assigned geographic territory. The position requires a broad base of business knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. These duties require the integration of business theory and practice, thus necessitating professional development activities. Multi-county travel is required.
Key duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide confidential, high-quality instruction and educational support to entrepreneurs, business owners, and business managers.
Maintain an appropriate mix of clients as noted in annual goals and developed to support strategic plan objectives of the state organization.
Analyze situations, make recommendations, and educate clients regarding various topics, including business plans, market feasibility, market strategy, financial viability, strategic planning, operations management, human resource management, and legal structures.
Develop and deliver high-quality business training programs that are responsive to the needs of the business community served, including acting as an instructor. The topics of which should be focused on businesses planning to grow.
Identify topics, agendas, instructors, instructional materials, locations, time and other resources required for delivering training programs.
Maintain a broad base of business knowledge, but also develop specific and relevant area(s) of expertise and apply this expertise to the development of programs and training.
Participate in the required professional development each year.
Direct clients to appropriate external resources for business information and assistance.
Engage in public relations, such as speeches and presentations and serve as an advocate for business development and expansion in Georgia.
Document all consulting information into the electronic information system (Unity) in a timely, accurate, and comprehensive manner. Maintain information as required by the SBA.
Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:
Preferred Hiring Qualifications
MBA or graduate business degree plus experience preferred.
Experience within the areas of strategic planning, financial analysis, marketing, operations, or human resources
Business development, presentation, or training experience
Experience balancing multiple projects, clients, or responsibilities.
