Teaching Assistant Professor

POSITION: A full-time, teaching assistant professor position is available in the Department of Business Communication and Information Systems with an emphasis in business communication for the 2024-2025 academic year beginning August 19, 2024.

The official title is Teaching Assistant Professor with the working title of Teaching Assistant Professor. This is a one-year appointment with a salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS: A master's degree is required from a regionally accredited institution in business communication, technical communication, organizational communication, professional communication, or related field. The following will be considered assets: evidence of successful teaching at the collegiate level; and demonstrated commitment to support and enhance the diversity and cultural and global awareness of students, faculty, and staff.

DUTIES: Teach courses in business communication based on program needs and specialization; participate in scholarly and professional development activities to maintain AACSB qualifications; provide academic advising to students as assigned; engage in service to the department, University, College, and profession.

THE UNIT: The Department of Business Communication and Information Systems consists of 12 staff members and offers majors, minors, and certificates in business communication or information systems.

The business communication unit within the department six full-time faculty and teaching professors. The Department of Business Communication and Information Systems

is one of the four academic units in the College of Business. All students in the College of Business take two business communication courses as part of their degree.

The Business Communication Program also offers an Advanced Business Communication Certificate that is open to any student at UW-Eau Claire. The Business Communication Program administers the College's Student Professional Development Program and Business Writing and Presentations Studio. The College of Business consists of 2,091 students and 40 faculty and instructional staff. Department members work closely with COB faculty to ensure that the communication classes meet the needs of the various majors in the college.
