Business Banking Team Leader

Camden National Bank is looking for a motivated, driven, strategic thinker to build, develop and manage our Business Banking Segment. This is a huge opportunity to build-out this segment from the ground up. This position reports to the Executive of Retail Banking and will receie the full support of the bank for its success. Overall Objectives and Goals of the Segment Leader:
Responsible for management, administration, and execution of strategic initiatives related to Business Banking.
Ensure business development strategies and tactics are created, implemented, measured and optimized to provide the necessary traction to full awareness of Camden National's value proposition.
Meet the financial targets established for business banking including but not limited to deposit and loan growth, fee income and market share gains as well as manage the relationships with agencies, vendors and partners that support the business line.
Responsible for driving overall customer satisfaction of this segment as measured by our periodic customer survey
Serve as a liaison to the local business community and represent the Bank through service on Board and community groups.
Responsible for the development and achievement of strategic goals, budgeting and planning for the small business banking. In conjunction with Retail Banking leaders, drive business banking strategies and tactics in our markets.
Responsible for evaluation of existing and ongoing development of new product offerings and pricing strategies to meet changing customer needs of this segment; work in conjunction with the Credit team to maintain acceptable credit quality.
Responsible for the onboarding and education of business bankers and select banking center managers as it pertains to business banking. Assist in recruiting of internal and external candidates.
Fosters strong partnerships with internal colleagues in Retail, Commercial, and Wealth divisions.
Responsibilities include coaching, field visits, facilitating and leading team meetings and calls and development of customized strategies for the market to increase production within their assigned Small Business Banking team.
The Small Business Banking Leader will be expected to support management to drive sustained performance of their assigned small business bankers and influence the performance of banking center managers in order to assist them in achieving their assigned sales production in deposits, lending, and cross sell.
Develop the business acumen of their assigned Small Business Banking team and select banking center managers by facilitating and managing the training of the team, along with the production/revenue for business banking and retail banking. Participates in skill building and coaching sessions.
Displays leadership qualities in sales and service. Acts as a peer resource to assist with stakeholder development.
Assist team in utilization of prescribed selling techniques to maximize sales opportunities.
Identifies trends, influences, sales drivers and sales constraints within assigned markets. Using those trends, they will independently formulate & implement strategic sales plans weekly, quarterly, annually within their assigned Small
Business Banking team in order to achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals through consistent execution of the small business activities.
Evaluate product offerings and continually seek out opportunities to add value for our customers and prospects.
Develops and maintains a working knowledge of all bank products and services.
Maintains an awareness of the competitive landscape and leverages that knowledge to better serve the clients.
Facilitate, manage and drive successful partnerships with their individual retail partners- by having regular and frequent interactions with Regional Managers.
Assists Retail Managers with development of small business banking strategy, budget planning and management.
Build, foster and leverage strong partnerships with third party partners to increase production and revenue.
Will network with centers of influence and other referral sources.
Represents the Bank at various business, community and social functions.
Assist local leadership in the sourcing, recruiting, interviewing and onboarding of small business bankers
Personnel management, recruitment and training including management authority with respect to staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations and disciplinary actions.
Locate or propose potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discover and explore opportunities and pipeline management.
Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluate options; resolve internal priorities.
Develop negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examine risks and potentials; estimate businesses needs and goals.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations.
Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Assist with the development of new banking relationships to grow both loan and deposit portfolio.
Providing exceptional service to the existing client base.
Helps team coordinate with branch partners to maximize sales efforts and cross sale of other products.
This team leader will manage a portfolio of small business loans within designated market and have individual sales goals.
Proven ability to analyze applicant financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan, or submits application to Credit Department for verification and recommendation.
Assists and/or intervenes when sensitive customer issues or complaints are brought forth.
May approve loans within specified limits.
Provides activity reports and reports out on status of banking team against goal.
Interaction with credit department and bankers to facilitate loan production.
Support and assistance for small business bankers and select banking center managers on complex loan requests and joint sales calling efforts.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting is preferred.
Must have a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in working with small businesses and in Management.
Must possess a strong knowledge of business and consumer loan and deposit products.
Business/commercial lending experience required and must have an understanding of SBA products and lending requirements.
Must have proven experience in managing a book of business.
Extensive Sales management and coaching/training skills
Must be self-motivated, have the ability to successfully multi-task and work in a fast paced environment with frequent changing priorities.
Must have excellent problem solving and customer service skills as well as excellent oral, written communications skill, excellent presentation skills and listening ability.
Exercises strong decision making abilities & problem solving skills
Knowledge of risk management principles in direct sales of business banking products with proven record of success
Must have been exposed to Small Business in a sales & service delivery capacity - in either the Retail environment or small business environment.
Proven experience with coaching and developing sales people to better performance. Translating goals to actionable steps that results in increased production and revenue. Working in a matrix relationship within and/or across business lines.
Proven success in sales; success in understanding the business life cycle and identifying opportunities that fit the needs of the client.
