Under limited supervision, creates project level business architecture artifacts for specific projects. Working with the business, IT and other architects, facilitates the creation and evaluation of business processes, business capabilities, requirements and use cases to recommend project level direction. Aligns project level artifacts with the strategic initiatives and with the IT standard methodologies for development.
Job Specific Information:
This position will support Enterprise Solutions by influencing and providing enterprise architecture (EA) leadership on large efforts such as Shipment, Customer, Product, Location and Address to name a few. EA requires experienced leaders with a background in several architecture disciplines and practices. This resource must lead multiple large efforts simultaneously, making key architecture and technology decisions. It is equally important that a skilled and experienced resource be in the EA organization t mentor the other team members, participated in the highest level strategy meetings, and draw on their broad background of experiences.
Responsibilities will include:
Provide business and technical leadership and guidance to project team members
Research and evaluate emerging database technologies for applicability and adoption
Develop and maintain a data architecture blueprint to guide and inform all key initiatives
Determine data architecture solutions that meet performance, availability, reliability, and security needs
Work with architecture and development teams to inventory, develop, and maintain data models using FedEx standards
Define, champion, and govern enterprise architecture standards, tools, best practices, and development methodologies
Provide proactive technical oversight and mentor-ship to architecture and development teams fostering re-use, design for scale, stability, and operational efficiency.
Support the definition and implementation of strategic planning efforts such as Visionary Summits, multi-year planning, and enterprise foundation services as appropriate
Partner with industry analysts, software vendors and internal stakeholders to develop enterprise data architecture strategies
Routinely work on multiple highly complex assignments concurrently
Knowledge/Skills Considered a Plus:
Experience working with deploying systems which incorporate best practice principles, patterns, and tools
Strong understanding of business capability management strategies and solutions with hands-on experience architecture, designing, implementing, and delivering solutions
Experience working with business and IT architects in requirements analysis and modeling tools (e.g., one or more of the following: Software AG ARIS, Oracle Business Process Architect, EA SPARX or other similar tools)
Possess demonstrated ability to arrive at sound and effective business solutions
Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and interact with resources from technical and non-technical organizations
Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting and collaborating with developers, analysts, and business staff throughout the organization. Ability to express complex technical information in a user-friendly language and style, present information effectively in one-on-one, and small group settings, including executive management
Capability to provide thought leadership, critical, and abstract thinking
Transportation and logistics industry knowledge is a plus
Knowledge of The Open Architecture Framework (TOGAF) and the Business Architecture Guild (BIZBOK) or other architectural framework is a plus
Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience and architecture practice experience
Knowledge of tools HP Agile Manager (AGM), and Microsoft Office 365 (O365)

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. Five (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirement.
