Profile Summary:

In this role, you will be supporting Cigna Supplemental Benefits (CSB), a fast-growing and dynamic Cigna business. You will work closely with colleagues across the business (including partners in operations, finance, actuarial, strategy, marketing, sales, etc.) to identify key analytics needs and to provide insights which address business questions and influence future decision-making.

Example questions you would help solve include:

  • How do we prioritize customer retention efforts?
  • What is driving recent trends in claims costs?
  • How can we help optimize profitable growth for each of CSB's sales channels?
  • How can we segment our customers into meaningful cohorts to differentiate acquisition efforts?
  • How can predictive models be used to better manage customer communication

You will be responsible for developing research questions, creating hypotheses, gathering and synthesizing data, summarizing your findings in a clear and concise manner, and delivering the results/recommendations to a broad audience. You will form consultative partnerships and balance multiple stakeholder requests concurrently to become a trusted partner/leader across the CSB business.

You are a data and analytics expert who enjoys collaborating in a matrix organization. You enjoy digging deep into the data to investigate business questions and find hidden patterns. You excel at translating complex, technical analyses into simple findings and communicating those findings to business partners. You are self-motivated and enjoy working in a fast paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consult independently with stakeholders across the CSB business to prioritize and define key strategic analyses, particularly around financial performance and claim experience

  • Conduct sophisticated analyses to help assess CSB business decisions and recommend future action on a wide variety of topics (e.g. customer profitability, strategic business decisions, claim cost drivers, etc.)

  • Develop clear and thoughtful materials to communicate results/recommendations to business partners

  • Partner with IT and other colleagues to drive structural data improvements which will enable better long-term analytics capabilities

  • Build reports and monitor trends to identify analytics needs by identifying emerging risks/opportunities.

  • Act as an analytical consultant working closely with business partners (e.g. finance, actuarial, operations, underwriting, etc.)

  • Work effectively and efficiently on multiple tasks and deadlines, while producing high quality results

  • Ensure quality and integrity of data collected and analyses performed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a quantitative field preferred (e.g. mathematics, statistics, data science, business, MIS, actuarial science, finance, etc.)

  • 5+ years of health care or related experience

  • Proven track record of extracting meaningful insights from large and complex data sets

  • Demonstrated experience working with non-technical business partners in consultative manner

  • Strong communication skills (e.g. experience translating complex analyses into easy-to-follow slides/materials)

  • Ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities

  • Prior experience in predictive modeling a plus
