Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • You will facilitate business requirements.

  • You will interact with the IT group to determine appropriate computer-related solutions to business problems.

  • This position provides analysis, definition and direction to computer-related development and maintenance activities.

  • Ensures correct business functionality, requirements, and industry standards are addressed within the computer applications.

  • You will be responsible for determining how changing business needs will affect the system. Understands the role of the system in the big picture and provides ideas and recommendations regarding the evolution of the system.

  • You will build effective relationships with business units to develop a "joint" vision. Acts as a liaison with IT and/or outside vendors as appropriate in support of the system. Works together with Developers and the Project Management Team to ensure the client's business needs have been met.

  • Respond to questions and assists the customer regarding current and potential system inputs, processes, and outputs. Conducts research and analysis into the nature, effect and results of system problems. Develops detailed business requirements, system documentation, and workflow procedures while ensuring the customer understands the final results of the project(s).

  • Assist in the testing and implementation of any new releases of the software.

  • You will produce weekly updates for the Project Manager regarding the status and activities being performed by the analysts group.

  • Meet regularly with members of the team to ensure that any new enhancements made to the system are coordinated for consistency.

  • Assist in researching new corporate initiatives (Compliance, system upgrades, One Company Initiatives etc.) assigned to the team.

  • Communication and training of new requirements.

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, physics, math, statistics, computer science or related field of study required.

Join our IT team to help design, launch, and manage our next generation IT Service Management processes and systems in support of scientific research. The ITSM / ServiceNow Business Systems Analyst role supports our project for planning, design and launch of a new ITSM system in support of the core organizational functions and IT business processes at The Jackson Laboratory. This includes gathering and analyzing data, facilitating project activities, and coordinating UAT – all while applying ITIL and ServiceNow best-practices. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and facilitation skills to help maximize the benefit of our ITSM investment. The candidate will coordinate the collection and analysis of data, configurations, and data integrations. They will build reports, documentation, support development, and coordinate User Acceptance Testing. Candidate may coordinate or facilitate vendor project implementation and/or development activities. Please Note: This is a temporary position, initially 3 months in duration with a possibility of extension Responsibilities ITSM / ServiceNow Systems Analysis * Assist with preparation of system configuration materials (models, specifications, diagrams, and charts * Collect ITSM data for KPI/measurement purposes and prepare analysis and reports * Perform analysis and provide reporting on both process and service metrics, KPIs, OLA/SLA * Collect enterprise data related to services, applications, people, groups, locations, et al to help build data portfolios of reference, populate system data tables, and ensure overall master data * Support development components of ITSM process deployment including documentation on development, training, Management of Change, technical standards, and communications/marketing. * Build standard reports in ServiceNow Data analysis on integration data flow (quality analysis) Project Coordination & Support * Coordinate project scheduling and logistics including project workshops, working sessions and other project activitiesCoordinate User Acceptance Testing activities according to project plan * Facilitate assembly and publication of meeting minutes / notes * Manage Project Box and SharePoint sites Perform other duties as required Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree or equivalent is required. College degree in Computer Science, IT, MIS, or related field is preferred * Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in ITSM projects: designing, development and deployment experience with the ServiceNow platform * Strong experience and working knowledge of ITSM, ITIL framework, and enterprise ITSM projects * ITIL Foundation Training (certification preferred) * Demonstrable track record in use of and support for ITSM platforms * Experience with Azure DevOps and enterprise application Test Management process desirable * Occasional travel may be required REQUIRED SKILLS * IT Project skills: Working in an enterprise IT project context; managing or coordinating IT project activities – development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products – particularly ITSM systems. * ServiceNow: Extensive usage of ITSM systems and specifically ServiceNow, preferably from a process management or Service Management Office perspective; CMDB experience a plus * Excel data management: Strong competency and practical knowledge of data manipulation and presentation tools such as Excel charting & pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, Visio flow charts, PowerPoint graphical representations, MS-Word professional document preparation * ITSM Documentation: Skill writing ITSM Process work instructions, support, training, and/or marketing materials * Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability * Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills * Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language (written & oral) * Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment About Us The Jackson Laboratory ( is a nonprofit biomedical research institute with over 1,800 employees across three campuses nationwide.
