Reporting to the Vice President of Product, the Business Analyst position is an exciting opportunity to join and contribute to the development of new features of the US customer base of Vista. The ideal candidate is someone who has demonstrated experience translating customer requests into business solutions in the software and / or technology space.


  • As part of an Agile team, drive new product feature development from start to finish - with help along the way!
  • Participate and contribute in the scrum, sprint review, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and other team meetings
  • Perform requirements gathering with existing and prospective clients to understand the essential and ideal needs for new product functionality
  • Document requirements in a clear and concise manner, adjusting the communication to cater to the intended audience
  • Work with the Product Directors and other Business Analysts to analyze the requirements and translate them into elegant software solutions that meet (and often exceed!) the requirements
  • Generate early mockups and consult with Product Directors and Developers for technical impacts and considerations
  • Communicate the requirements and the final solution designs, generally via PowerPoint storyboard, to the Product Directors for approval, to the customers to ensure accuracy, and to the Developers (and in some cases the Test Analysts)
  • Produce cost estimates for design and development for customer approval prior to completing work
  • Perform thorough reviews of the new functionality to ensure that it was completed as expected (may also include writing reusable test cases)
  • Provide powerful analytical thought and leadership



  • 1-2 years of Business Analyst (BA / BSA) / Product Manager / Solutions Analyst work
  • Detail oriented a must
  • Effective communication skills a must
  • Experience in the cinema exhibition, distribution, or related industries highly beneficial
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required, Microsoft Team Foundation Server highly beneficial, Microsoft SQL Server and Azure a plus

This program is critical to USC's overall goals to improve administrative efficiency. Workday Financials will be paired with the existing Workday HR and Payroll solutions implemented in 2013. We are currently seeking a Lead Business Analyst – Workday Financials (Sr. IT Business Analyst) to join our Workday Financials deployment program team. The Lead Business Analyst will be will be responsible for ensuring the overall Workday solution meets the business requirements across all functional areas. This includes overseeing the functional discovery, design, testing, and deployment process. The ideal candidate must possess 3 years of business analyst experience with a sound understanding of project management methodologies, business process flow, and documentation procedures. Experience with Workday Financials is also required. USC is also seeking transformation within its departments and schools, so the successful candidate must also be able to help USC evaluate and optimize existing business processes based on a proven understanding of how Workday should be deployed. ITS is committed to providing information technology services and support to the university. ITS provides essential, university-wide services such as: * Enterprise information systems * University wired and wireless networks * Educational Technology * Research Computing * IT Security This is a fixed-term position with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2021 Please note that this is a full-time role eligible for benefits, including medical, dental, and vision plans. What You'll Do: * Lead, mentor, and direct work for a team of business analysts * Work collaboratively in an iterative agile 'style' environment * Coordinate and Support business analysts in the review of requirements and be able to challenge existing processes based on Workday best practices * Provide oversight to requirement gathering, ongoing issue resolution, application design and configuration, and testing across functional areas * Serve as an escalation point for ongoing project issues * Coordinate touchpoints with other program work streams * Provide overall ongoing status and risk mitigation * Provide guidance to other members of the development/analysis team, as required * Meet with customer groups to determine IT business requirements * Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, and task and workflow analysis * Analyzes and critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts and decompose high-level information into details. Abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding. Distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs * Serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development or business process re-engineering team through which requirements flow * Stay informed of new developments and technologies * Perform other duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time The Must Haves: * Bachelor's degree in business administration, organization development, communication or related discipline * 3 years of business analysis experience * Experience with Workday Financials * Ability to help evaluate and optimize existing business processes based on a proven understanding of how Workday should be deployed * Strong knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies, business process flow, and documentation procedures Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools * Strong oral and written communication skills * Ability to multitask, interact with multiple stakeholders and navigate changing priorities.
