Because of a strategic commitment, United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) created the Electronic Systems Center (ESC) headquartered in scenic Phoenix, AZ. The ESC supports a wide variety of UTAS aerospace products with state-of-art engineering development, testing, and production facilities and expertise. The ESC team designs, tests, builds, and supports electronic control units and systems for primary flight control systems, high-lift systems, electronic and hydraulically actuated brake control systems, and many other products for all parts of the United Technologies Enterprise. The Business Analyst will be a part of the Program Management Office and support all Electronic Systems Center's programs and functions. The role will provide partnership between engineering and business, create increased visibility into operational strategy and performance with the goal of driving speed, quality and cost efficiency. It will include headcount projections and reporting as well as development of reports and presentations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop integrated revenue and expense analyses, projections, reports, and presentations, monthly, quarterly, and annually.

  • Prepare and analyze financial reports and communicate key metrics and recommendations to management in a clear, organized summary.

  • Assist in planning and forecasting program financial performance and prepare future strategic plans.

  • Provide partnership to business; create increased visibility into operational strategy and performance in support of headcount forecast / reporting.

  • Act as business partner to demonstrate insight of financial analysis techniques, tools and concepts to provide practical counsel to drive results.

  • Reconcile data from multiple sources and perform general support of financial statement forecasts.

  • Perform analysis and prepare reports in order to ensure that contracts are within negotiated and agreed-upon parameters and government cost control guidelines.

  • Lead the implementation of the tool development and updates in support of financial analysis tools

  • Plan, elicit, capture, analyze, develop, and validate business processes/procedures

  • Support functional Cost Reduction Initiatives (CRI) across the business.

  • Support audits, reviews, and fact-finding requested by programs, customers, and company

Power markets are evolving quickly, expanding beyond energy imbalance markets to regional markets. Besides solar, wind power and many other renewable energy sources, there are many exciting new distributed energy sources. Large-scale battery storage is quickly becoming an essential system requirement. These market trends require new trading strategies and operating models. Our fast-paced and dynamic trading and operations support group is seeking a Power Systems Forecasting and Modeling Analyst to develop sophisticated solutions to a variety of challenging problems of integrating new distributed energy resources. This role performs a wide variety of analysis on topics that may include real time and forward market costs, forecasting for system load, weather and renewable energy production, generation modeling, gas storage and pipeline management. In addition, this role will support in planning various generation resources to serve customer load while considering the impacts to reliability and economics. Experience with Power Costs GenPortal, GenManager and GenTrader or similar optimal dispatch models preferred, but not essential. Minimum Requirements * BS/BA in business, engineering, economics, information technology plus two (2) years related experience or an equivalent combination of education, and electric-utility experience. * Must have a basic knowledge of principles of economic dispatch and the functional and economic characteristics of Company power resources and interconnected system. * Good research and effective communication skills a must. * Good word processing and spreadsheet skills are required. * Time constraints, scope and complexity are commensurate with the beginning level. * This position may rotate through various areas of Marketing and Trading and, depending upon the area, could involve work shifts that are different from normal business hours. * This role will require shift work that coincides with the Gas & Power Market (starting 4:30 am). Major Accountabilities 1) Performs data analysis, and develops strategic plans as required, to meet the company's Short Term and Real Time trading needs in the areas of power, natural gas, transmission, and renewables. Presents and reviews these plans with the Resource Operations Traders for implementation. 2) Executes all analytical functions such as: weather forecasting, load forecasting, renewable output, unit commitment, and incremental /decremental pricing. 3) Maintain and support all Marketing and Trading floor department programs, tools, and software. 4) Assist Back Office personnel in the functions of internal/external audits, financial settlements, after the fact reporting, and data analysis. 5) Ensures Trading Floor compliance by maintaining appropriate documentation, files, records or systems. 6) Performs primary Gas Scheduling functions both Short Term and Real Time including: nominations, trade processing and pipeline scheduling, HEEN, and pipeline blending. 7) Prepares reports and data requests, assists traders with production costs studies and preparation and analysis of operating data. 8) Provides support to other team members to enhance development and productivity.
