Position Overview:

  • Responsible for analyzing customer requirements and the analysis of information/data. Manages projects if required. Provides input to improve overall efficiency and processes.

  • The role holder under moderate supervision of the Senior Business Systems Analyst is responsible for understanding the business needs and identifying how best to meet those needs. This includes working with the business and the technology areas to gather requirements for development and management. The role analyzes, validates and documents the business and system requirements.

  • This role designs, modifies and creates business processes that will be used to implement the business transformation solutions. This is done through research and fact-finding combined with a basic understanding of applicable business processes, systems, and industry requirements.

  • The role holder adheres to the established processes and requirements management methodology and practices, while carrying out their responsibilities. This includes meeting established quality standards.


  • Candidate will be required to interact with business users to elicit and understand business requirements.

  • Tailor communication to different audiences, such as management, stakeholders, users, SMEs, developers, and others in a format appropriate for the audience (e.g. Functional Specifications, Use Cases)

  • Experience in Health care industry, workers' compensations bill review, and/or claims management.

  • Advanced skills in system analysis, problem solving, requirements elicitation, Requirements organization, (including experience with requirements management tools).

  • Requirements management and communication, translating and simplifying requirements and documentation.

  • Strong documentation skills of business process and creating workflows using tools such as Visio.

  • Arranges, prepares and takes part in client/user meetings and presents issues and solutions both orally and in writing.

  • Engages with Development and Quality Assurance on an ongoing basis to develop strategies and execution plans for the implementation of defined strategy.

  • Collaborates with team members and other departments to establish and/or improve the existing processes.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert, responds to technical product related inquiries from internal and external customers.

  • Initiates communication with states, clients, and external vendors to understand business/compliance needs.

  • Manages confidential client, financial and employee information with discretion and good judgment in accordance with department and Company guidelines.

  • Conducts User Acceptance testing on assigned projects. Documents and maintains reference and testing materials related to software changes.

  • Provides the highest level of customer service to customers, whether these are current or prospective clients of the Company, vendors, staff, business partners or visitors.

  • Knowledge of SQL, database, and relational data models.

  • Effective analytical and presentation skills.

  • Strong oral, written communications and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five years' product experience in one or more of the following; workers' compensations bill review, claims management, medical billing, PPO or MCO Networks, general healthcare industry or specialty review networks.

  • Technical expertise including MS SQL Server, SQL Database, writing queries, and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) reporting.

  • Experience communicating software functional requirements with vendors.

  • Ability to incorporate and manage the balance between business, strategic and technical requirements when assessing capability gaps.

  • Effective oral, written and presentation skills and the ability to develop long-term business relationships.

  • Experience with cross-functional teams that include software development, technical services and client services staff.

  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically when making product development recommendations.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently and to problem-solve complex technical issues.

  • Ability to function as a team player and to be a self-starter.

  • Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple activities with changing priorities simultaneously.

  • Ability to determine how changes impact customers and other systems.

  • Competency to utilized Company software and proficiency in Microsoft software applications and a willingness to learn new systems as necessary.
