Responsibilities
Whitney, Bailey, Cox & Magnani, LLC, now a division of TranSystems, is excited to announce we are seeking a Business Analyst specializing in GIS and Asset Management Services. Primarily remote with onsite as needed.
What you'll be challenged to do:
Client Focus:
Maintain a "client-first" approach, ensuring all deliverables meet client expectations and business requirements.
Interact effectively with both internal and external clients to gather requirements and provide technical guidance.
Project Management and Planning:
Support the development of project management plans, including Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), project schedules, and associated workplan documents.
Assist project managers with tasks as needed.
Requirements Gathering and Documentation:
Lead and facilitate requirements gathering sessions, document meeting minutes, and track changes in a traceable manner.
Prepare and lead the development of clear and concise requirements and design specifications.
Translate business needs into functional requirements for developers.
Technical Expertise:
Develop business and implementation plans and procedures, applying relevant GIS data and metadata standards and specifications.
Possess a strong understanding of system architecture diagrams, databases, and APIs.
Perform data preparation, processing, and analysis using GIS software (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS Suite).
Assist in application testing to ensure functionality meets requirements.
Serve as a product owner following application deployment and user acceptance.
Asset Management:
Asset inventory and management
Communication and Collaboration:
Develop well-written documentation, including requirements specifications, wireframes, user stories, system configurations, business process diagrams, database diagrams, training materials, testing guides, and issue/bug resolution documentation.
Prepare and deliver trainings to a diverse set of users.
Prepare and deliver presentations to represent the team at industry conferences and meetings.
Provide technical assistance and feedback to project managers and the overall project team.
Requirements:
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage time effectively to meet deadlines and budgets.
Support the development of proposals, marketing of products, and providing demonstrations of solutions and project deliverables to potential clients. Lead the development of needs assessments.
Conduct assessments and evaluate different standards and specifications.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What you bring to our firm:
5+ years of business analyst experience in GIS and asset management. (Transportation market preferred)
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with state and local governmental entities.
Demonstrated GIS experience in the latest industry technologies, including proficiency in Esri based geospatial analysis programs.
Bachelor's degree in an applicable field, with a Master's degree preferred.
Department of Transportation experience preferred.
Proven experience as a GIS/AM Business Analyst or related field.
Strong understanding of GIS/AM concepts, principles, and applications.
Working knowledge of database management systems and APIs.
Knowledge of and experience of IT business analysis methodologies and industry standards
Knowledge of application and data management principles and concepts.
Knowledge of how to create data standards, determine business data requirements, and business rules.
Knowledge and experience developing and designing GIS systems and databases.
Knowledge and experience utilizing the latest in Esri suite of software solutions consisting of ArcGIS. Desktop/Pro and ArcGIS Online/AGOL.
Excellent communication, written and verbal, with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to evaluate technology and trends and select future direction.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
