Job Profile

The Business Analyst Federal Health Programs will support the business and technical managers in defining the requirements and design of the CMS projects. They will provide subject matter expertise in Federal Health and Medicare policy and integral support in the requirements determination, conceptualization, design, development, testing, verification and validation, documentation, and implementation of information systems and applications.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Discovering and defining business, user, functional, system and security requirements

  • Defining test cases and test plans

  • Creating and updating a Requirement Traceability Matrix

  • Preparing a quarterly updates for the BRD based on change requests

  • Assisting with research for stakeholder inquiries

  • Contributing to memos

  • Running periodic and ad-hoc reports for stakeholders

  • Light project management tasks, such as updating domain schedule

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, Health Policy, Economics, or equivalent experience

  • 3 + years related experience in multiple disciplines including health policy, information systems, business, and/or technology fields

  • Knowledge of CMS Payment Models and renal disease preferred

  • Experience working with SQL databases preferred

  • Experience working with SAS data analytics preferred

  • Experience in requirements gathering and collaborating with multifunctional teams in Federal Health systems development required.

  • Experience working in Agile and The CMS XLC development platform.

Masters degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field strongly preferred; or , a combination of equivalent experience and education. Shares personal expertise with peers and seeks peers' expertise appropriately. * Develops and improves financial reports and various tools used system-wide in the preparation of nursing financial, human resources, and performance metrics reports as well as other ad hoc business analyses. * Leads and implements improvements, enhancements, updates, and modifications to administrative, clinical and/or financial data that enhances overall business operations and effectiveness. * Monitors additions to the data warehouse for accuracy and relevance while working closely with IS department. * Participates in multidisciplinary improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents MedStar Health in community outreach and outreach efforts as appropriate. * Performs other duties as assigned. * Reviews HIPAA requirements and other regulatory requirements to ensure compliance. * Works with Director of Nursing Finance & Data Analytics and other staff members to develop reporting and analytical tools used to aid in the development and implementation of business strategies and to maximize performance.
