What is the future of Airbnb? What should we build in 2019? In 2020 and beyond? We are an R&D team at Airbnb that invents new pathways to deliver belonging. We scout opportunities and turn them into prototypes and new early stage products. We work to influencing the Airbnb leadership to evaluate and eventually invest in new areas.

The Business Analyst & Business Partner Liaison is a key part of this work. We are looking for an strong individual contributor who can estimate the business potential of a new venture when it's just an idea. Further, we are looking for someone who can take a new, unproven but exciting idea, connect it to current business and user needs and make a case for a new investable opportunity for Airbnb Strategy and Finance teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Due diligence on new product potential: perform market analysis, business projections and competitive research to select potential winners from 100s of ideas we identify every quarter.

  • Increase the innovation odds of early ideas by doing due diligence and partnerships to bridge product teams & Airbnb leadership.

  • Partner directly with Strategy team to establish process & criteria for new projects

  • Select 6-8 candidates early prototype development per year, and provide solid justification for how the new idea bring more belonging and financial strength to Airbnb at the same time.

  • Support the team with partnering with Airbnb's leadership to estimate if a new product is investable

  • Work directly with the Airbnb Business Areas to bring new product opportunities for our team and ensure design ideas are aligned with business goals.

  • Set success metrics and inform product roadmaps for our portfolio.

  • Negotiate contracts with agencies and vendors.

  • Strong alignment with Airbnb's values.

Required Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in Venture Capital, Strategy Consulting or Internal strategy development

  • Ability to forge partnerships with Board members, Strategy and Finance teams

  • Strong ability to generate hypothesis and bring data to evaluate opportunities

  • Individual contributor work as an analyst, including reviewing trends, market data, generating estimates

  • Experience in developing & evaluating the impact of marketplace based products

  • Experience in partnering with product teams (design, tech, research) to support the business estimation and potential of seeds to early stage products.

  • Exposure to early stage and scaled stage products

  • Excellent forecasting & estimating capacity

What You'll Do Overall, you will play a key role in helping to shape and drive the talent agenda supporting business goals. Specifically, you will work closely with leaders, teams and global HR colleagues to identify people opportunities, strategies and solutions to challenges within the business such as: * Coaching and advising on a variety of components impacting employee experience: employee relations concerns, first tier investigations, performance management, rewards and recognition, leaves of absence, local labor laws, global mobility, compensation and benefits; * Creating and executing initiatives to drive extraordinary individual and team performance, including integration efforts for newly acquired individuals and companies into Twitter; * Driving executional excellence and change management to broad-based initiatives including talent reviews, inclusion and diversity, workforce planning, talent analytics, and overall process improvements in service to a positive employee experience; * Analyzing people data and trends to identify talent retention solutions in partnership with HR colleagues from Inclusion and Diversity, Talent Acquisition, People Systems and Analytics, Employee Relations, Total Rewards, Legal, Learning and Development and our global HR teams in EMEA, LatAm and APAC; * Employing operational discipline partnering with People Services and Total Rewards to ensure accuracy in organizational hierarchy, pay, titling, and leveling. * Up to 30% domestic travel may be necessary.
