IT Group Description:

Fixed Income Investment Technology ("FIIT") group builds software that the Fixed Income business of AB uses in performing functions such as Fundamental Research, Quantitative research, Portfolio Management, Order Generation, Trading and Middle office and BackOffice operations. It partners with business to understand their challenges and help them by providing innovative technology solutions. We re-engineer the process where applicable in collaboration with business to help scale their business and be efficient in this dynamic market conditions. We have an in-house application that is written using C# and Windows forms called Research Analyst Portal ("RAP"). We also have other vendor products which are used in part to do these functions as well.

We are seeking a Nashville based Business Analyst to join our Fixed Income Investment Technology team in Global Technology & Operations.

Describe the role:

The Business Analyst is a key role for our firm providing business analyst and project management support to understand business needs and identify how technology can meet those needs through the design and implementation of efficient processes and tools. Business Analysts in FIIT take on a broad range of tasks dependent on the project and their subject matter expertise. BAs work directly with Senior Portfolio Managers, Portfolio Managers, Assistant Portfolio Managers, Fundamental and Quantitative research analysts, Traders, Middle office, Operations functions and Technology teams. BAs collaborate with the business sponsor and stakeholders to understand the business problem/need and determine process or technology solutions. The Business Analyst will also work closely with the development team to design and implement tools.

Describe the applications and business or enterprise functions the role supports:

The primary project that the candidate will contribute to will be Municipal Re-engineering. The primary modules/tools the Business Analyst will support are RAP, our web based framework, and vendor applications. These tools support Senior Portfolio Managers, Portfolio Managers, Assistant Portfolio Managers, Fundamental and Quantitative research analysts, Traders, Middle office and Operations functions.

The key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Act as primary liaison between the business and technology teams

• Establish priorities with the relevant business sponsors

• Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternatives

• Participate in project planning, own complex analysis/requirement documentation, and lead in the Development and QA/testing phases of projects

• Facilitate stakeholder meetings to elicit requirements, document business and functional requirements, create data and process flow diagrams and produce wireframes

• Partner with developers to ensure requirements are implemented per business requirements

• Write and execute test plans and test cases in collaboration with QA

• Conduct user training sessions and create user training documentation.

• Provide support for production issues and ad-hoc data and research requests from the business team(s).

Job Qualifications (The ideal candidate should have the following):

Qualifications, Experience, Education:

• BS in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, Economics or related major.

• 5 years of business analysis experience

• Experience partnering with business users to implement technological change,

• Fixed income, portfolio management or trading knowledge preferred

• Experienced in Project Management Tools like JIRA , Azure Board

• Proficiency with SQL, Excel

Skills:

• Must possess excellent analytical skills

• Ability to structure ambiguous business problems and partner with business and IT teams to recommend efficient solutions

• Relationship building and communication skills

• Self-starter with the ability to work effectively independently and within a team

• Should be able to take ownership, have strong client focus and follow through

• Detail-oriented and deadline driven with ability to multi-task across projects

Special Knowledge (if applicable):

• Knowledge of Fixed Income and Portfolio Management is an added plus
