We are looking for Business Advisory Solutions Cannabis Manager in our New Jersey office. As a Cannabis Manager, you will be responsible for providing excellent client service to our cannabis clients nationwide, and primarily to New Jersey and New York cannabis operators. Responsibilities:
Assessing financial forecasts of cannabis license applicants for completeness and accuracy, providing related consulting
Yearly, quarterly, and at times, monthly accounting assistance of operating cannabis companies (dispensaries, vertically integrated, cultivators, manufacturers, dispensaries, etc.)
Assistance with assessing costing methodology for cultivators and manufacturers,
Assessing inventory movement within state mandated seed-to-sale tracking systems such as METRC and Biotrack, and POS reports for any irregularities and discrepancies with accounting records
Assisting in preparation of cannabis excise tax returns, sales tax returns, etc.
Assisting cannabis clients in evaluating and establishing accounting systems, financial reporting, SOPs and internal controls
Assisting cannabis controllers and CFOs in audit readiness
Managing tax returns of cannabis companies by developing budgets, selecting staff, assigning workloads, and coordinating application of IRC 280E with experts in cannabis tax law
Identifying tax planning and service opportunities
Managing communication with IRS, state and local municipality tax authorities on behalf of clients
Supervise, mentor, and develop less experienced staff
Strong focus on branding the services of the company emphasizing the importance of qualified cannabis professionals
Supporting the cannabis practice leader in developing business, on-boarding new clients and general management of the cannabis practice.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
CPA license is preferred. CMA or CFE certification is a plus but not necessary
1-4 years of progressive cannabis accounting and/or tax experience preferred; minimum of 6 years of either public accounting or private accounting experience required
Knowledge of IRC 280E
Basic knowledge of cost accounting and Section 471
Knowledge of New Jersey and New York Cannabis regulations preferred, or willingness to learn about them
Experience working with METRC, Biotrack and/or other seed-to-sale platforms, or willingness to learn about them
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Capable of managing multiple client engagements
A track record of building and sustaining client relationships and high-quality client service
Outstanding analytical, organizational and project management skills
Experience with CCH Axcess, Caseware, Quickbooks, CCH Intelliconnect, and Microsoft Office
