Job Summary

Under the direction of Transportation Director assists in the supervision of special needs students, while riding the bus or other student transport vehicle to and from school within the Antelope Valley. Work year is comprised of the number of days by student's needs (IEP). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Travels on the bus or other student transport vehicle from the transportation department to pick up student from bus stop, drop off at school and reverse in the afternoon.

Assists students with loading and unloading if needed. • Keeps student calm on bus or other transport vehicle, provides physical interventions per IEP if needed for travel safety. • Under the direction of the Director or designee will implement any requirements of the IEP / 504. • Assists in maintaining up-to-date records of student progress, if necessary. • May attend IEP's for student, if necessary. • Assists students in attending to basic needs, including medical needs, when necessary. • Assists in bus evacuation in an emergency situation. • Other related duties may be assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The employee supervises students during the ride to and from school and is directly responsible for student's safety and well-being.

Requirements / Qualifications

High School diploma or general education degree (GED). CPR/First Aid/AED certificates. Capable of passing NCI and/or other special training if required by IEP. Ability to understand and carry out bus emergency/evacuation procedures.
