THE POSITION Benefits Supplemental Questions

This is an hourly position, limited to working no more than approximately 19 hours per week or 1000 hours annually, whichever comes first. This position is non-benefitted and is designated as a non-classified, at-will position.

The Bus Fare Clerk assignment is a part time position at the City of Modesto Bus Maintenance Facility The assigned hours are approximately three to four hours, three days a week but may vary. This position handles money, deposits of receipts and will require a background investigation prior to employment.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants will be assessed on the application submitted. Due to the volume of applications received, resumes will not be screened for the purpose of determining who is the most qualified to compete in the testing process.

It is the applicant's responsibility to fill out the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application with complete information and adequate detail. Do not substitute any part of the application with the words "SEE RESUME."

All applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be invited to the next phase of the testing process which will be a written examination.

The following information is provided for you to use as a reference and as a planning tool. Human Resources is unable to schedule make-up interviews.

Experience and Training Guidelines

Any combination of education and experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

Experience in cash handling is desirable.

Training:

Ability to read and write at a level necessary for acceptable job performance, including the ability to follow and to interpret written instructions and to perform basic arithmetic.

Additional Requirements:

Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:Mobility: frequent standing or sitting for long periods of time; frequent bending or squatting. Lifting: frequently up to 10 pounds; occasionally up to 25 pounds.

Vision: constant use of overall vision; frequent reading and close-up work; occasional color and depth vision. Dexterity: frequent repetitive motion; frequent writing; frequent grasping, holding, and reaching. Hearing/Talking: frequent hearing and talking.

Emotional/Psychological: frequent decision-making and concentration; frequent public and/or coworker contact; occasional working alone. Environmental: frequent exposure to noise.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Conditions will vary depending on assignment. Work may also be performed in a typical outdoor environment on a year-round basis subject to street or field noise and year round weather conditions.

Duties may include some recreation-related field noise. Work often occurs at remote locations. Positions may require some overtime and weekend work and travel is rare.
