Reports To: Habilitation Coordinator or Senior Habilitation Coordinator
Physical Requirements:Heavy lifting, pushing, standing, sitting for prolonged periods, walking, reaching, climbing stairs, bending/stooping, ability to carry out SCIP techniques
Hours of Work: Full Time 40 hours per week
Pay Range: The pay range is $16.80 to $24.00Job Summary:
As a Bus Driver/Assistant Hab Specialist you are responsible for operating all agency vehicles, while ensuring accurate documentation and adhering to all safety and cleaning procedures.  The position also assists passengers when needed and provides person centered attention and support to individuals being transported.  This position also ensures daily care and supports are provided to persons with disabilities in a person-centered manner in their day program supporting each person to live a life they love.  Work collaboratively to ensure assigned supports are completed to ensure health, safety and quality of life.Job Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • NYS Class B CDL driver’s license with passenger endorsement required.
  • Qualified or able to be qualified DOT 19-A preferred. 
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have a minimum of six months experience driving a bus. 
  • CPR certification or able to be CPR certified
  • Travel required, must have reliable transportation 
  • Must be fluent in English, able to read and write the English language
Major Responsibilities:
  • Operate all vehicles in accordance with Liberty Transportation manual guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate mileage and attendance documents as required.
  • Physically assist passengers as needed and required.
  • Complete vehicle pre-trip, DOT inspection and paperwork as required.
  • Maintain a clean vehicle with weekly cleaning as required.
  • During inclement weather, call in as required.
  • Maintain professional appearance in accordance with transportation manual
guidelines.
  • Report traffic infractions/tickets before the end of the business day.
  • Provide person centered individual attention to all consumers to include respect,
dignity, patience and courtesy.
  • Provide individual support - ensure that supports are provided with consideration of each person’s individualized routines and procedures.
  • Financial- assist individual’s with purchases including choice, expense, responsibility, and planning.
  • Health and nutrition - ensure that medical needs are arranged for the consumer with as much independence from the consumer as possible. 
  • Regulatory - ensure continuity and security for each consumer.  Follow agency, state, and federal regulations in order to maintain compliance.  Report all incidents, including allegations of abuse and neglect and Serious incidents, to the Senior Habilitation Coordinator/Manager immediately upon discovery.
  • Training/Programmatic- support and train individual’s in respect to fire evacuation, incidents of abuse and other topics through natural teaching moments.
  • Community Relations- Ensure that persons with disabilities participate in the life of the community.
  • Professionalism- uphold agency Values. Be positive at all times while at work. Personal discussions of a negative nature must not take place at work. The atmosphere needs to be pleasant and supportive to everyone.
  • Environmental- provide a safe, secure, and comfortable atmosphere.  Report safety hazards immediately to direct supervisor.
  • Scheduled Hours- Attend staff meetings as scheduled on a monthly basis. Attend training and individual specific in-services as necessary.   Staff are at no time to leave an individual without proper coverage or relief, or in an unsafe condition due to staffing needs.
  • Personal Outcome Measures- Understand supports we provided relative to the 21 Personal Outcome Measures.
  • Other Duties as assigned
