Driving a 14 passenger bus with a wheelchair lift throughout the DMV in all types of traffic.
Ensure safe handling of the vehicle at all times.
Provide scheduled transportation for assisted living residents located at the assigned Victory Housing communities as scheduled by the Director of Marketing and Management. Normal trips are scheduled Monday - Friday, 9 am until 5 pm. Weekend trips may be scheduled once or twice a year. Evening Christmas light trips are scheduled in December of each year.
Provide appropriate assistance as seniors enter and exit the bus as needed. Operate the wheelchair lift as required.
Make sure that all wheelchairs and walkers are properly strapped down during any and all times that the bus is in motion.
Make sure that all residents including those in wheelchairs are wearing proper seat belts at any time that the bus is in motion.
Support and assist residents and house staff during outings as needed.
Maintain an excellent working relationship with the house staff.
Report unusual resident behavior or physical assistance needed by residents to the appropriate director. The identification of resident status changes and communication to management is essential to the care of residents.
Responsible for assuring that fuel levels are appropriate and that the vehicle is maintained in a responsible and safe manner. Report any mechanical and/or safety issues to the Director of Marketing and Management.
Clean the bus inside and out. All trash is to be emptied following the completion of each trip.
Report all unsafe incidents / accidents immediately to the Director of Marketing and Management. Complete the daily log in the log book.
Be prepared to handle emergencies as they come up in transportation runs. Take CPR / First Aid classes as provided, and carry a cell phone in van at all times when out with residents.
Scheduled transportation may be necessary on occasion during evenings, weekends and holidays.
Participate in resident activities when appropriate.
Other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as directed by the Director of Marketing and Management.
Ensure that the attainment of Victory Housing's Commitment to Our Residents takes precedence over all decisions and actions
Must have a current driver's license in Maryland, DC or Virginia.
Driver's license must be in good standing and free of any current or past violations regarding DWI or reckless driving.
Must have no current or past history of civil or criminal convictions including misdemeanors.
Must present self in a professional manner, display genuine concern for seniors and tact in dealing with others.
Have or be able to obtain a DOT Physical Card
Have one year's experience in driving a 14 passenger bus or larger.
Have one year's experience in working with and preferably transporting seniors.
Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated with verified third party vaccination card or medical record
