PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The role of the Bus Driver Trainer/Clerk is to train drivers/monitors and assist with clerical duties under the direction and supervision of the Director of Transportation and Bus Route Supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

TEA certification requirements

High School Graduate or GED

Certified school bus driver with CDL License class B with endorsements P(passengers) S(school bus)

Driver education training experience preferred

Ability to communicate effectively

TEEX Certification preferred

Clear DPS license check

Evidence of course work in English, Typing and/or Business Course applicable to the position

Ability to type with reasonable accuracy 35 words per minute or verification of skill and training in the areas of job requirement and must be computer literate

Competence in basic office procedures and the operation of common office equipment and machines

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Train bus drivers on approved T.E.A. District routes.

  • Train bus drivers on guidelines and policies as per the Transportation Handbook.

  • Train drivers on discipline procedures.

  • Conduct safety-training sessions.

  • Monitor routes.

  • Assist in gathering route description information.

  • Answer telephone and related calls or messages to appropriate personnel.

  • Provide information to public regarding transportation routes, policies, etc.

  • Type a variety of materials.

  • File records as directed.

  • Maintain logs as directed.

  • Assist in payroll preparation as directed.

  • Review bus conduct reports.

  • Drive a school bus as needed.

  • Assist as bus monitor as directed.

  • Assistant Dispatcher.

  • Maintain absentee reports.

  • Maintain Driver Region One Certification files.

  • Maintain employee D.O.T. and Pre-employment physical files.

  • Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

EQUIPMENT USED:

  • School bus safety equipment, to include reflective signs, first aid kits, fire extinguishers and etc. Two-way radio, typewriter, computer, printer, copier, and calculator, routing software, GPS software.

  • District vehicles.

  • District cameras

  • District cell phone.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Maintain emotional control under stress; occasional district travel; repetitive hand motions

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE¬: * Proficient in the preparation, set up and maintenance of inventory, equipment and supplies used for patient care. * Stocks and maintains adequate inventory of supplies. * Demonstrates competency to operate office machines and MMIS applications. * Must have at least (1) year experience of inventory management. * Prefer experience of inventory management in a healthcare setting. JOB REQUIREMENTS: ¬POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS: * High school GED graduate required * Working knowledge of medical terminology required * Experience in material management preferred * Computer knowledge is required * Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues. * Good written and verbal communication skills required. * Ability to read, write and speak English * Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians * Prefer hospital experience POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: * Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practice * Assess inventory and PAR levels daily as well as notifies the end user of stock status. * Prepares supply order based on inventory assessment and anticipated needs. * Submits supply order electronically utilizing the MMIS application. * Receives and reconciles supply orders. * Correctly labels and stocks supplies. . * Distributes supplies and fills stock orders, noting discrepancies. * Organizes and retrieves all unused supplies as well as used equipment from clinical units and hospital departments for credit, returns or re-distribution. * Minimizes acquisition/delivery times of supplies by working efficiently. * Exchanges and accurately restocks emergency and other designated procedure carts. * Retrieves, decontaminates and processes minor hospital medical equipment. * Demonstrates cost effectiveness by maintaining appropriate inventory levels and using * Must operate copy machine, facsimile machine, computer and other office equipment. * Maintains cleanliness of work areas, supply rooms and the dock. * Retrieves totes & carts. * Pick up charge sheets from departments. * May perform other tasks and duties as assigned that is appropriate with the operation of the Materials Management Department.
