Bus Driver Pathway Mobile Unit/ Bus

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Pathway Programs & Recruitment the Pathways Mobile Unit Driver is a part-time position. This position will transport the unit, equipment, and supplies to designated sites and ensure the safe operation of the vehicle and all onboard equipment and supplies while enroute and at each site. This position will meet established travel and event schedules.

Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:

• Drive the mobile unit to designated sites (including elementary, middle, and high schools, universities, and community locations).

• Operate a wheelchair ramp on the bus to accommodate those who need it.

• Conduct safety and operational inspection of mobile unit daily.

• Report needed mechanical repairs when necessary.

• Maintain cleanliness of mobile unit to ensure safe operating conditions.

• Complete mileage and other required reporting.

• Attend various meetings regarding safety, first aid, and trainings as required.

• Attend driver training programs to maintain current knowledge of Texas Transportation laws, policies, and procedures.

• Assist with loading/unloading and setup/breakdown of equipment and supplies.

• Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Service bus with gas, diesel, and oil: check and if necessary, fill tires and charge batteries.

• Knowledge of Texas Transportation laws and University policies.

• Knowledge of safe driving practices.

• Ability to drive a bus safely and efficiently.

• Ability to exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving.

• Ability to maintain valid certification in accordance to state regulations.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform required duties safely and effectively.

• Strong organizational and leadership skills to cultivate and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Experience working in fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations.

• Demonstrate an understanding of the need for data, data analysis, and data driven decision making.

Required Education / Experience:

• A valid and appropriate Texas Commercial Driver's License - Class B with a passenger and school bus endorsement

• Pass a DOT physical annually and pre-employment drug screening.

• Possession of a safe driving record.

• Experience driving a school bus.

• Comply with ISD, college/university rules and regulations.
