Required Qualifications: Per Civil Service Standards and Specifications. Must possess a valid CDL license, Class B, with passenger and Air Brakes and be able to be 19A certified as required by New York State DMV. Must have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations

(* Out-of-State Applicants, see "Special Notes"). Appointment will be contingent upon proof of identity and eligibility for employment and successful completion of pre-employment testing for controlled substance use as mandated by the Federal Highway Administration Omnibus Transportation Act of 1991. Please note that employment cannot commence until notification for successful completion of this pre-employment testing is received. Must comply with the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (drug and alcohol testing).

Brief Description of Duties: The Bus Driver will be responsible for the following:

  • Drive a full-size passenger bus on and off SUNY property in order to transport passengers and materials as required.

  • Check horn, directional lights, head, tail, parking and emergency lights for proper operation. Check proper operation of braking system.

  • Supervise the loading and unloading of passengers and personal property onto the bus. Post manifests, inventories, and other records of goods and passengers transported. This would include the compiling of count sheets from all drivers when assigned.

  • Transport passengers with disabilities.

  • Pre-trip inspection of vehicle and completion of required forms.

  • Operate radio and/or cellular telephones as needed to communicate with dispatcher.

  • Monitor gauges and as necessary refuels the tank on the vehicle.

  • Check tires for visible damage.

  • Keep written records of trips, mileage, stopovers, fuel bridges, tolls and records of passenger counts. Report any malfunction and needed repairs to supervisor or maintenance staff. This would include the compiling of the daily bus logs from all drivers on a daily basis.

  • Drive campus routes and do charters for departments and graduation work for Stony Brook University.

  • Wash, sweep, clean and fuel buses, as well as vans and other state vehicles.

  • In an emergency situation, the driver may be required to perform some minor repairs such as replace a bulb, put air into tires, replace windshield wiper blades, etc...

  • May map routes, itineraries, and points of call for other drivers as well as yourself.

  • Transport vehicles to and from vendors for repairs.

  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes: These are temporary full-time positions, 40 hours per week and temporary part-time positions, 20 hours per week with an anticipated start date of August 19, 2021 and end date of May 26, 2022. Shift and pays days varied. Night and weekend work is required. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Mandatory rehire roster candidates have preference.

Duties of a Laboratory Aide may include the following but are not limited to: * Accessions patient specimens utilizing the computer system and/or manual procedures. * Records data into appropriate accession log books. * Reviews all patient specimens received for proper labeling to ensure proper patient identification and appropriate sample type and size for test procedure. * Processes and prepares patient specimens for analysis to include centrifugation, measurement of 24 hour urines, etc. * Answers the telephone to provide information on availability of patient services, specimen collection requirements. * Maintains records of laboratory reports as assigned and perform other clerical related duties. * Learn the computer to obtain pertinent data and to report test results and generate orders, etc. * Will be required to provide backup support in laboratory stat service and serve as a runner in transporting specimens. * Adheres to all policies and protocols to ensure quality patient care and maintenance of safety rules and regulations. * Will perform inventory control, stock shelves, and other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: No minimum education or experience requirements. Preferred: High School Diploma, Medical Terminology and prior hospital/lab experience preferred.
