THE BUS DRIVER ROLE IN OUR MISSION
The mission of Eastern Star Church is evangelism and discipleship. We are committed to the great commission instituted by Jesus Christ that is to nurture and save souls. (Matthew 28:18-20). Everything we do is to live out the vision that the Lord has given to our church family.
The Bus Driver serves as an integral part of the ESC team that manages capital assets and provides transportation for our JEWEL Summer Enrichment Campus, transportation between campuses, and for special events.
Provide five-star service to members by safely operating transportation vehicles with obeying laws and adhering to church policies and procedures.
Provide assistance to those in need while entering and exiting the vehicles.
Perform vehicle inspections before and after each route and report any safety concerns to the superintendent and any accidents to law enforcement. Provide first-aid, if necessary.
Complete trip logs and, accident reports when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND IDEAL CHARACTERISTICS
An ideal candidate is someone who understands that safety is a priority and has a strong ability to work independently; someone who is patient and has a passion for serving others.
To qualify for this role, one must be at least 21 years in age, hold an active CDL license with an excellent driving record, have a high school diploma or GED, and at least one year of experience as a driver. This role requires for working a variable schedule, including some evenings and weekends. Candidates must also have an:
Ability to follow driving directions, read and interpret documents such as maps, OSHA manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
Ability to make sounds and swift decisions.
Ability to communicate articulately and effectively in English with co-workers, members, and others both inside and outside the church whether in writing or by telephone or email.

Work is primarily performed in a moving vehicle near moving mechanical parts; outdoor weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; noise level is moderate.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to observe an area that can be seen up or down or to the left or right while eyes are fixed on a given point.
