The Bus Driver serves as an integral part of the ESC team that manages capital assets and provides transportation for our JEWEL Summer Enrichment Campus, transportation between campuses, and for special events.


  • Provide five-star service to members by safely operating transportation vehicles with obeying laws and adhering to church policies and procedures.

  • Provide assistance to those in need while entering and exiting the vehicles.

  • Perform vehicle inspections before and after each route and report any safety concerns to the superintendent and any accidents to law enforcement. Provide first-aid, if necessary.

  • Complete trip logs and, accident reports when necessary.


An ideal candidate is someone who understands that safety is a priority and has a strong ability to work independently; someone who is patient and has a passion for serving others.

To qualify for this role, one must be at least 21 years in age, hold an active CDL license with an excellent driving record, have a high school diploma or GED, and at least one year of experience as a driver. This role requires for working a variable schedule, including some evenings and weekends. Candidates must also have an:

  • Ability to follow driving directions, read and interpret documents such as maps, OSHA manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

  • Ability to make sounds and swift decisions.

  • Ability to communicate articulately and effectively in English with co-workers, members, and others both inside and outside the church whether in writing or by telephone or email.

  • Work is primarily performed in a moving vehicle near moving mechanical parts; outdoor weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; noise level is moderate.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to observe an area that can be seen up or down or to the left or right while eyes are fixed on a given point.

  • Must be able to identify and distinguish colors.

We are currently accepting applications for the following position: Bus Driver The Bus Driver has a primary responsibility with ensuring the health, safety and welfare of the residents while transporting to and from activities outside the community. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS: * Safely transports residents to and from outings, medical and/or other various appointments outside of the facility in a timely manner so appointments are kept, while ensuring safety of residents transported. * Communicates with facility via radio/cellular phone to ensure residents are dropped off and picked up accurately. * Ensures the bus always has sufficient fuel. * Reports immediately any accident and/or incident(s) involving the bus. * Assists in maintaining bus in safe working condition, performing minor repairs as needed and reporting needed repairs to Activities Director. Maintains the bus in a neat and orderly manner. * Assists residents onto and off of bus, utilizing ramps, wheelchair tie-downs, and other equipment safely. Reports immediately any accident/injury a resident and/or employee may experience during the course of transportation. * Assists in transportation training of other staff or volunteers. * Assists Activities Director as needed, conducting activities and completing paperwork * Maintains community involvement. * Assists with various community activities as needed.
