What You'll Do

Reporting to the Fabrication Supervisor, you will be the expert in processing plant equipment used in the commercial explosives industry worldwide. You will be part of a dynamic team who manages the areas of metal forming specialty truck bodies. Other duties will include:

  • Competence building

  • Apprentice with experienced team members for 2-3 years

  • Learn and adhere to applicable safety practices, rules, regulations, etc.

  • Balance work pace, quality, and efficiency

  • Work in teams and accomplish goals together

  • Use workplace efficiency concepts (i.e. visual management, 5S, standard work, etc.)

  • Monitor daily/weekly/monthly work performance through Key Process Indicator graphs

  • Read and understand drawings, schematics, designs, and blueprints of tanks and other steel assemblies for truck bodies and process plant equipment.

  • Operate metal forming equipment to produce layout pieces for fabrication (i.e. plasma table, shear, press brake, roll bender, band saw, drill press, stationary grinder, hand grinder/buffer, etc.)

  • Willingness to cross train into non-layout areas as the needs arise (i.e welding, assembly, paint prep, etc.)

  • Operate various shop equipment including forklift, overhead crane, jib crane, grinder, sander, drill, and other related fabrication equipment.

  • Accurately account for components used for specific jobs/work orders

  • Search for, identify, and implement improvement ideas continually

  • Shift to non-core jobs if required by supervisor

  • This role will be considered competent as the individual meets a minimum of 50% competence of the Intermediate position description for Layout Specialist B, A competency test may be required.

What We're Looking For

  • High School Diploma Required; Trade and/or Technical School Training preferred

  • Some High School or Technical School experience in metal forming and welding preferred

  • Use of "Burn Table" technology not mandatory, but highly preferred

  • Training/education will be provided to build additional competence

  • Welding proficiency preferred but not required (a welding test may be administered to verify competence)

  • Good communication skills (written, conversation, face to face, email, text, etc.)

  • Reading and writing proficiency required

  • Good mechanical aptitude.

  • Requires intermediate computer navigation (file sharing, uploading/downloading files, computer interface experience

  • Requires intermediate math skills (proficient in fractions, decimals, conversions, and basic geometry)

  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and team player

Responsibilities Primary Responsibility: Under general supervision, Lift Truck Operator (LTO), Warehouse Worker will ensure safe and accurate receipt, storage, and shipment of food products utilizing equipment including, but not limited to sit down and stand up forklifts, stand up straddle trucks, walk behinds, pallet jacks, double pallet jacks and radio frequency equipment. Essential Functions: * Load and unload freight using equipment in an efficient and safe manner. * Move product to storage areas with proper equipment. * Efficiently stack and safely store the merchandise in the designated area. * Pick orders for shipment and assemble various types of merchandise to be shipped. * Check or count freight for accuracy and/or damage and infestation. * Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. * Conduct operations in a manner, which promotes safety. * Participate in physical inventories, as needed. * As directed by management, perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking. * Operate equipment safely and efficiently. Equipment to include (but not limited to) stand up forklifts, stand up straddle trucks, walk behinds, pallet jacks, double pallet jacks and radio frequency equipment. * Promptly Report all safety malfunctions on equipment. * Comply with OSHA standards. * Must be able to meet production standards. * Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work environment. * Follow attendance policy, show up for work on time and ready to work assigned shift. * Charge or change forklift battery as needed. * Perform other duties as assigned, may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed. * Tools and Technology: Computer, Warehouse management system and related components, Pallet Jack, high lift, sit down or stand up lift truck, Hi-lift, RC Qualifications Qualifications & Experience: * High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred, or at least one year related work experience.
