Buildings & Grounds Technician: Full time position with comprehensive Commonwealth of Virginia benefits (for benefit information please see Employee Benefits at https://www.dhrm.virginia.gov/employeebenefits).
Work schedule will be 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., Monday through Friday. Required to work some holidays. Occasional overtime work hours required. Minimum starting salary is $30,000.
Responsibilities:
Performs various duties to include:
Grounds maintenance
Snow removal
Vehicle maintenance and inspections
Trash removal
Building repairs
Landscaping, building maintenance and building systems monitoring
Assists in preparation and set-up for special events and classes
Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, faculty & staff and other
stakeholders important to the college
Performs other duties as assigned
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Qualifications:
Required:
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to lift and move furniture, supplies and equipment
Valid Driver's license
Ability to maintain a high level of ethics and confidentiality in performance of all job duties
Knowledge and ability to adhere to safety codes and regulations and incorporate proper safety procedures and utilize safety equipment in all duties
Knowledge of grounds and landscaping practices
Ability to work without direct supervision
Ability to operate all types of snow removal equipment and mowing equipment
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty & staff and other stakeholders important to the college.
Additional Considerations
Preferred:
Experience in grounds keeping to include mowing, weeding, snow removal, trash removal.
Experience with commercial cleaning
High school graduate or GED
Significant experience in grounds keeping, landscaping and commercial cleaning
Operation of a State Vehicle Yes Supervises Employees No Required Travel
