Minimum Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience
Successful completion of a US Department of Labor registered building trade apprenticeship training program and journeyman status, plus at least two (2) years of journey level building trade experience, or five years of skilled building construction or building inspection experience, or graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture or construction related engineering, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications
A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required
Must have permanent use of an automobile that is properly insured, including clause specifically insuring the City of Chicago from accident liability
Selection Requirement
This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a writing exercise as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the interview process will be selected.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
Familiarity with Illinois department of Public Health lead codes/guidelines
Licensed electrician or General Contractor
Bilingual
Educational & Employment Verification:
Please be advised that if you are selected to be hired you must successfully complete the Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor training course. You must also pass the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Lead Risk Assessors exam to receive an IDPH Lead Risk assessor license within the probation period. Upon request you must provide adequate information regarding your educational and employment history as it relates to the qualifications of the position for which you are applying. If you received your degree internationally, all international transcripts/diploma must be accompanied by a Foreign Credential Evaluation.
If the City of Chicago cannot verify this information or the information as listed on your resume application, any offer extended to you will be withdrawn and you will not be hired.

Ability to access difficult to enter spaces (e.g., roofs, basements, tanks, field equipment, cramped quarters).
Ability to tolerate heights while working.
