SkanWorks is seeking a self-motivated individual to manage our Skaneaetles Facilities and Co-Work space. SkanWorks is a family-owned business in Skaneateles, NY, and is the premium office/conference space in the Finger Lakes region.

What is a Co-Work Space?

With all the new ways we are able communicate and the tools/technology that allow us to work remotely, use of co-work spaces have become a standard practice for many companies to provide greater flexibility and work-life balance for their employees. Co-work spaces also allow self-employed individuals have an office outside their home without all the additional headaches and overhead costs associated with managing a traditional office space.

Maybe someone just wants a quiet space to work for a few hours, or a room to host a training or meeting, or maybe someone is looking for an office to call their own that’s a bit more conducive than their kitchen counter. SkanWorks has a space for everyone. SkanWorks co-working space includes private offices, dedicated desks, custom suites, conference rooms and meeting spaces. Members can rent these spaces for a month, year or even just a day. Our mission is quite simple - provide a great place with the necessary tools and services to enable bright minds and creative people to do their best work.

What’s the role?

As our community manager, you will be the first touch point for members on a daily basis. You will ensure day-to-day operations of the space run smoothly and that members have everything they need. Some examples of this are making the coffee, helping members connect to the WiFi, or chatting with and collecting member feedback. Additionally, you will help create a sense of community by organizing social events and other opportunities for member-to-member interaction. Additionally, you will be responsible for the upkeep of the skaneateles properties which includes monitoring the facility and scheduling subcontractors when necessary.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Create a friendly, productive office environment
  • Provide tours of the facility
  • Assist with onboarding new members and follow-up with prospective inquiries
  • Assist members with moving in and out of spaces
  • Light cleaning (ensure common spaces are clean, educating members to clean up after themselves and managing external cleaning services when appropriate)
  • Stock snacks and beverages
  • Inventory supplies
  • Troubleshoot basic technical problems and ensure common devices are in working order (monitors, printers, door fobs, etc.)
  • Assist members with coordinating meetings and events
  • Be willing to learn and become proficient with new software/apps
  • Weekly bookkeeping duties

Requirements

  • Being proactive
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read, comprehend and write simple instructions and correspondence
  • Ability to independently perform job duties, manage time and problem-solve
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions, written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to define problems, collect data and establish facts to draw valid conclusions
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation
  • An operational smartphone
  • Good physical condition: can regularly walk, stand, and use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, ability to lift 30-50lbs
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and related software
  • Customer service, hospitality, and/or real-estate experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent degree
  • College degree preferred
  • Employment subject to drug and background check

  • Wages start at $22/hour (dependent upon on ability & experience)
