Building Technologist to assist with the engineering design and project management of general construction, roofing, waterproofing and other building envelope projects. Technologists are involved in developing innovative solutions for a variety of challenging engineering and construction related projects and assist in project management and scheduling, engineering and design, client relations and project quality control.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Roofing and Construction Experience "swinging a hammer."
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a similar discipline
  • 0-5 years of project management or project engineering experience with an Architecture/Engineering/Construction firm
  • Field construction experience is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of roofing, waterproofing or other building envelope systems is highly preferred.
  • Self-starter with ability to accept responsibility for projects and see them through to completion
  • Excellent oral/written communication and analytical skills
  • Outstanding organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work as individual contributor and contribute as part of a larger project team
  • Willingness and desire to learn and apply new concepts to assignments and projects
  • Strong in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and MS Project and other windows applications
  • Outstanding client service

This Building and Plant Maintenance Tech role will be a member of our Building and Engineering team located in downtown Seattle that supports 330,000 sq. ft. of clinical and laboratory space and 1500 staff members. The BMPT assists the Lead & Plant Engineers in the Operation, Maintenance and repair of building systems, including: HVAC, Boilers, Chillers, Pure Water, Domestic water, Cooling towers, Vacuum pumps, Compressors, and Electrical. Conducts building wide repairs to building fixtures, machinery, and systems. Will require on call hours. Operates, maintains and repairs boilers within limits of Seattle Boiler Fireman Grade 4 license. Also assists with furniture/equipment moving and relocation. Requirements Required Education/Experience: - High school graduate or equivalent. - Three (3) years experience in building / industrial maintenance, including troubleshooting and repairing of mechanical systems. - Per the driver's license requirement noted below, must have a driving record acceptable to Risk Management. Required Credentials: - City of Seattle 4th grade boiler fireman license or obtainable within 12 months of hire. - Current Washington State driver's license. Preferred: - 3rd grade boiler license. - Washington State EL07 Maintenance Electrician. Washington State Electrical Trainee certificate. - Two (2) years trade school in Building/Industrial Maintenance. - Five (5) years experience in building/industrial maintenance, including troubleshooting and repairing of mechanical systems.
