REPORTS TO: Principals
JOB GOALS: Carry out the absent teacher's prepared lesson plans and perform all essential functions of a teacher in the classroom.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow the teacher's written lesson plans
Create a positive learning environment
Ensure that the goals of the plans are met
Consult with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and/or concerns
Comply with all building procedures and schedules
Prepare a written summary of work completed and any special notes
Implement effective management procedures, maintain high expectations and uphold the student conduct code
Create a referral for any infractions
Work cooperatively with other teachers
Uphold computer technology acceptable use policies.
Build a working knowledge of the curriculum.
Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information
Take precautions to ensure staff/student safety
Provide appropriate and consistent supervision
Report evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law
Supervise non-classroom duties when assigned
Accepts personal responsibility for decisions and conduct
Develop appropriate student relationships and serve as a positive role model for others
Performs other specific job-related duties as directed
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university, required
MA Department of Education Certification preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Second language or language acquisition background preferred
Experience working with students from diverse SES backgrounds and cultures, preferred
