Title: Academic Building Security Specialist
Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Saturday and Sunday
Alternate Weekends
7AM to 3PM
Occasional alternate days/shifts during absence of co-workers
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Safety & Security, provides an efficient and effective system for the opening, closing and monitoring of all academic buildings, including interior patrols. Additional duties may be assigned by the Director.
Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities: The following are not to be considered a complete list of duties and responsibilities assigned to this position:
Review class, building and special event schedules: open/lock buildings.
Scheduled buildings/rooms are to be opened no later than 30 minutes prior to event and locked no more than 60 minutes before end of last scheduled event.
Lock all buildings/rooms as close to the assigned closing time as possible.
Secure all academic buildings not used for classes and special events.
Secure computer labs that are not 24/7 access according to published schedule.
Check interior of academic buildings for security issues.
Secure all windows, as time allows, contact Safety and Security if necessary.
Check for safety hazards.
Report and document any unusual activity in the log sheet.
Notify Department of Safety and Security in case of emergency.
Drive university vehicle.
Maintain vehicle use and maintenance logs.
Special assignments as requested by the Director.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must pass background check.
Possess and maintain valid driver's license and be insurable by university carrier.
Interact positively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
Ability to work under pressure, remaining flexible in requirements of special events and circumstances.
Ability to write legibly and communicate effectively with all members of the BW community.
Ability to run and interpret pre-programmed building scheduling reports.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio Driver's License and remain insurable by the college's carrier. Must successfully complete a criminal and credit background check. Must be willing and able to work a variety of shifts and schedules.
Must be able to physically conduct foot patrols that will include ascending and descending stairs. Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, weather, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. Moderate physical activity. Requires lifting up to 25 pounds. Requires standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
