CLASS DESCRIPTION
Baltimore City's Department of Recreation and Parks (BCRP) is seeking a dynamic, results driven, goal-oriented individual to fill the role of Building Project Coordinator/Operations Specialist I. Under the direction of the General Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds the Building Project Coordinator recommends and inspects contract work involving the maintenance, renovation, and repair of City-owned buildings. Work of this class involve no supervisory duties or responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Evaluates requests for and makes recommendations on the repair, alteration and maintenance of City-owned buildings and grounds including internal and external utilities.
Reviews contract drawings, plans and specifications.
Prepares cost estimates and determines length of time necessary to complete project.
Inspects the work of contractors to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
Conducts progress meetings and determines corrective action necessary to solve problems.
Expedites the completion of contract work and recommends payment to contractors.
Maintains records and submits periodic status reports.
Assist Safety in Inspects fire and storm damaged buildings for insurance estimates of damages.
May oversee the work of maintenance personnel.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
AND
EXPERIENCE: Have five years of experience in overseeing building construction and maintenance work including experience in reviewing contract drawings and plans, specifications and preparing cost estimates.
OR
NOTES(EUIVALENCIES): Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS: A valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license, or an equivalent driver's license and eligibility to obtain a Baltimore City driver's permit.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of building renovation and maintenance methods and materials.
Knowledge of inspection methods.
Ability to read and interpret contract drawings, plans and specifications.
Ability to prepare cost estimates.
Ability to evaluate requests for renovation or maintenance work.
Ability to deal effectively with others.
Ability to maintain records and write reports.
