Responsibilities

The Building Monitor is expected to ensure safety, quality, and appearance of the YMCA in accordance with the mission, character development and values of the YMCA.

  • Contribute to the overall YMCA mission of healthy living, youth development and social responsibility.

  • Must greet members, participants, staff and general public in a friendly and courteous manner.

  • Must be able enforce YMCA policies and guidelines for the basketball court, walking/running track, weight room, circuit room, teen center, and/or computer lab, in a courteous manner.

  • Must verify all members and participants using the facility.

  • Must answer phone lines according to YMCA phone procedures.

  • Must respond to needs and questions with accurate information.

  • Must handle complaints in a friendly and courteous manner.

  • Must notify appropriate staff of any unsafe conditions, complaints, needed repairs, incidents, or accidents immediately.

  • Must give tours and educate members and prospective members on services, programs, events and volunteer opportunities.

  • Must keep gym, basketball court, walking/running track, weight room, and circuit room clean and well organized.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 16 years.

  • Must have good communication skills including phone skills.

  • Ability to make independent and sound decisions in a fast paced environment.

  • Highly organized, detail, and goal oriented.

  • Must be able to deal with a diverse group of people in a friendly and consistent manner.

  • Must be able to reflect a positive attitude.

Position Summary: * Manages all aspects of slot, beverage and table games operations for Harrah's North Kansas City creating a differentiated service experience and ensuring optimum performance for all. * Achieves desired results in all areas of responsibility through staff development and training programs, established methods, procedures and guidelines to maintain desired standards, and high quality service. Then, monitors results through inspection, evaluation and analysis. Makes changes if necessary to achieve end result. * Management accountability for all team members for day to day and long term operations to include hiring, training and developing employees which includes coaching, mentoring and appropriate performance management up to and including separation. * Responsible for staffing and scheduling (planning, assigning and directing work) to meet business demands and ensure customer satisfaction. * Responsible for overall department budgets, profit and loss statements, cost analysis, labor analysis, planning and promotions. * Familiarization with all Harrah's Brand programs and systems. * Responsible for the overall integrity of daily operations, ensures compliance with all regulatory, internal control, and policies and procedures. * Builds guest relations through visibility to customer, soliciting/requesting feedback, and responding to guest concerns appropriately and professionally to resolve any issues. * Presents oneself as a credit to Harrah's and encourages others to do the same. * Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Education Preferred: College degree preferred. 5 years progressively more challenging leadership role, casino operations preferred. Ability to understand and analyze Budget & P&L Statements. Proven time management and critical thinking skills required. Must possess excellent employee relations skills. Good oral and written communication skills, must be fluent and literate in English. Ability to respond calmly and make rational decisions. Physical Requirements: Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the casino. Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, as well as lie on back to work inside the confines of a slot cabinet for long periods of time. Must be able to push and lift weight up to 40 pounds. Must be able to see small objects in poorly lit areas. Must be able to work in areas containing high noise levels and secondary smoke. Must be able to work at a fast pace and in stressful situations. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
