Position Description:

The Building Materials Associate is responsible for processing customer transactions at sales counter and for responding to customer needs in the yard.

Work Activities:

  • Greet customers as they arrive and provide them with information about products and/or services;

  • Accurately and efficiently process customer transactions;

  • Proactively respond to customer questions and concerns, providing excellent customer service;

  • Prepare and assemble lumber orders in the yard for delivery or customer pickup;

  • Accurately and efficiently process customer transactions;

  • Unload lumber deliveries from suppliers and compare invoices to items actually received to ensure that shipments are correct;

  • Complete required documentation for incoming/outgoing materials;

  • Inspect and maintain supplies and equipment;

  • Adhere to company safety standards and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Work effectively with minimal supervision and direction;

  • Excellent customer service skills;

  • Able to perform accurate measurement and basic calculations;

  • Physically able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • Punctual and reliable;

  • High School Diploma or GED;

    exerting up to 50 lbs. of force regularly;

  • Repetitive motion associated with operating equipment;

  • Regular exposure to the elements;
